  1. The amenities shown were nonsmoking, fitness and hi-speed internet--the same as shown in your list of Hotwire hotels--which was very helpful. Looking forward to my trip!
  2. Got for $188/night for 3 nights. Same icons as on Hotwire hotel list provided here--thanks! Very happy as hotel going on Hotels.com for $356/night when I booked it though see it is now down to $289/night.
  3. Took a few tries but I got this one for 1/4-6. A bit lower than the convention rate on the Intercontinental ($155/night). Moreover, the Intercontinental couldn't accommodate me for the first night.
  4. I got this one on the first bid. Unbelievably, I had been booked into this same hotel for a conference on the same dates and am now paying $99 less than the conference rate thanks to priceline. Awesome.
  5. I got this hotel on 11/20 for two nights starting on Friday 11/21. The amenities listed for this midtown central hotel are the same as listed on the very helpful hotel list provided for hotwire here. The rate on quikbook.com for the same hotel is $280/night so I feel that hotwire did fine by me here. :)
  6. Hotel is $147 and has the following amenities: restaurant, fitness center, business center, tennis nearby. Thanks.
  7. Thanks for the tip on customer favorite. I liked Le Parker Meridien a lot too. However, they have another customer favorite in that zone too (think it is the Intercontinental) so it is hard to tell which hotel you might be getting for that. In the end, I bid on priceline, vowing not to go about $125 for a 4* since I knew I could get it (probably the Essex House) for $129 on hotwire. I got the Essex House for $115 on priceline, a nice little savings of around $50. As I posted on the hotwire board, this bid shows the pros and cons of both priceline and hotwire. Hotwire was offering the Essex House (blind but pretty much knew which hotel) was $129. The pluses of priceline are that I saved some money (around $50). The pluses of hotwire are that I could've saved time by spending less time (not getting a bid, researching, waiting, rebidding on priceline) and just getting the room at a good price, though not as low as on priceline. The other potential advantage of hotwire is that one can perhaps guess which hotel you're getting with greater certainty. Again, you pay a bit more for that though. Thanks for everyone's help. Best, David
  8. Hello, I got the Essex House for $115 so I'm happy. I can't help but wonder if bidding after the blackout started helped me out and if I should've tried for lower. However, I'm happy enough at that price. This bid nicely shows the pros and cons of both priceline and hotwire. 9. Hi Folks, Anyone have any idea what the 5* in the White House/Cap Hill area available for $124 on the night of Aug 16th might be? I'm looking for a romantic getaway and curious to get an idea. Amenities include restaurant, business center, fitness center. Thanks! David

  11. Hi Folks, I'm planning to go to NYC from August 21-24. I searched hotwire and found a number of hot prospects. I got the Le Parker Meridien before and would love if I could get it again at a similarly good price. Here is what I came up with as hotwire options. Any help in identifying them would be much appreciated. 4.5* Midtown Central for $129. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, business center, spa services. My guess is that this is the Essex House based on another post on this board. 4.5* Upper East Side for $155. Amenities include restaurant, business center, fitness center. 4.5* Times Square for $156. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access, business center, spa services. 4* Midtown Central for $112. Amenities include restaurant, fitness center, high-speed internet access, business center 4* Midtown East for $123. Amenities include restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, tennis nearby. One suspects this might be the Millenium UN Plaza as I know they have a pool. Thanks for any help you can lend. I love this board and hope it is a hit! David
