However, the Kitchenette in the listings makes me doubtful ....? Also the TA rating is 3, vs. 4.5 for the La Quinte. Must be another property.

Re location: The idea was to stay near Old Town; the 2.5* Holiday Inn Express and 3* Hyatt Place from the Hotwire Hotellist would fit that bill. $ 100 price range, e.g. $ 300 - 400 range for 3 nights would be preferrable. Also willing to look at Priceline, but I am not really comfortable with that bidding process; maybe PRICELINE EXPRESS.

1) Checking North Scottsdale AZ, I got a price of $ 53 for a 2.5* on 10/14-10/16/16, with the following ammenities: "Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Fitness center, Pool(s), Self-service laundry, Golf nearby" 80% approval rate. Incidentially there is no 2.5* hotel listed in the hotel list for North Scottsdale; What property could this be? 2) Another 2.5* @ $55 just turned up, with the following ammenities: "Free parking, Free breakfast, Free Internet, Pet friendly, Smoke-free rooms, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Kitchenette" The big difference here vs 1) above seems to be the Kitchenette.

This turned out to be the Holiday Inn San Diego North Miramar. Total Cost for 2 nights was: $ 170 + $ 36.20 in tax & fees = $ 206.20. I was surprised to find this as part the Poway-Rancho Bernardo area, as it is at the very Southern end of that map depicting Rancho Bernardo. After making the reservation the HW description says: "About The Hotel : Property Location With a stay at Holiday Inn San Diego North Miramar in San Diego (Central San Diego), you'll be convenient to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. This hotel is within the region of University of California-San Diego and San Diego State University". " All-in-all it appears to me that this is somewhat misleading by HW. HW shows 90% recommended. Amenities listed: 1) Under "Hotel Details": Free Internet, Free parking, Business Center, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Self-service Laundry, Accessible for visually impaired 2) Under "Bidding Helper" FULL AMENITIES: Free parking, Free Internet, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Accessible for visually impaired, Accessible for hearing impaired, Accessible path of travel, In-room accessibility, Accessible bathroom, Accessible parking I did not find this hotel on the HW Hotel list. Mods might want to update the list.

I then checked PRICELINE EXPRESS on BiddingHelper, where a similar (maybe same) hotel showed for $ 75. Decided to reload/tap the search button again on BiddingHelper and low&behold now the price dropped to $ 69. !!! within some 5 minutes. I gotta believe the "HW-NSA" ( ^_^ ) was watching and did not like my move over to check PRICELINE EXPRESS.. A quick check with my friends > go for it > Bingo it was the Baymont Inn. A couple of observations re the Hotel List: HW ammenities show also Self-service laundry The HotelList also shows a 2.5* Microtel Inn, which I understand was the hotel's name, before it became Baymont (by Wydham?), maybe an update on the Hotel List could reflect that. Thanks all the mods for their advise! This was definitely in interesting excercise, along the chance to help somebody. Mods: shall I report the successful bid in a new/separate thread? Pls advise

Thanks for your insight, theruare. The 40% recommandation rating is pretty low indeed and does not seem to concur with the rather high rating of the Gold Coast on TA. I will ck out the Maps & Hotels site as well. Basically looking for a decent, clean room, $ 90-120 range (all-in), preferrably in Tropicana area, or Strip South, West of Strip, East of Strip, LV South.
