It's all location - some friends and I are running the Richmond marathon/half marathon on November 16, so our first priority is proximity to the finish line/area on Brown's Island. Either the Omni or Delta Hotels Marriott are ideal for that reason (walkable to/from the start/finish), and also have a noon checkout which in prior years we've been able to extend to 1 (so plenty of time post-race to walk back and shower before driving home). They are $319 or $409, respectively, at "retail" rates so we were just hoping to possibly find them a little cheaper. If we can't, then it's just a question of whether we want to splurge for one of those two, or stay out by the airport somewhere cheap and drive downtown in the morning (which we've also done in prior years). The Graduate is over a mile from the finish line and has an 11am checkout, so while it's a good deal, given the longer walk and earlier check-out, it's just not feasible - we would just stay by the airport for like $100 less.

I used to live in Chicago as well and am obsessed with their breakfast/brunch options... but it's not my trip :) I'm now seeing the original 3* Downtown Chicago - River North hotel mentioned above again (same price, dates, etc. as listed above). Are you seeing that now? If so, do you think Holiday Inn Express or something else?

No, I'm not still seeing that property in my search results :( This reservation was going to be for my parents, and I was hoping that the 3* property I asked about was the Holiday Inn Express as they have a free hot breakfast (which my parents love). I know there are other hotels with a free continental breakfast, but most of those (like the Kinzie Hotel, for instance) are just muffins, yogurt and cereal. And, some of the other cheaper 4*-4.5* properties don't have breakfast, so my parents would have to go out, or at least have hotel restaurant breakfast, every morning. I'll keep checking hotwire to see if this property reappears; if not, I'll just book directly.

I ended up booking a 3.5* hotel in River North for $75 per night from 11/18/2012-11/24/2012 - it was the Doubletree. Amenities included Fitness Center, Pool, Restaurant, Business Center and High-Speed Internet Access.

I used the HOTWIRE search link on your website to look for a Hotwire hotel from 11/21-11/27, and found a 3* Magnificent Mile Area - Streeterville Area hotel for $76 per night with a Complimentary Breakfast, Business Center, and High-Speed Internet Access. Those look almost like the amenities for the Inn of Chicago (which seems to have a fitness center instead of the complimentary breakfast), but I was hoping you could provide some extra assurance or a suggestion of what hotel this one might be.
