  1. It's going for $60 on their website, so saved a little anyway. :)
  2. Just wanted to report winning the Menzies Sydney. The amenities listed were: Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Looks like a fabulous location. This is a business trip, and I used the "extend my stay" option to add nights at $215 each.
  3. Won this one a couple weeks ago and it just came up again for me. Great price for the location, especially during the week. I originally bid $75, it offered me $86, I rebid at $79 and got it.
  4. Very cool price for a weekday stay. I guess no one wants to go to DC right before Labor Day. Anyway, I've stayed at the Hilton before and was very happy to win this. I was aiming for any 4* in the WH area or DuPont. Hotwire had one for $96, so I would've stopped prior to that. Started bidding super-cheap at $45. At about $65, it started offering me to buy-up to $87. Kept bidding in $2 increments and got this at $76. Did all my bids through your PRICELINE links. Thanks for the site! :) ETA - The best rate on the Hilton site for these dates is $127 as a prepay or $159 the "best available."
  5. Well, it's the one reported 3.5* that I was hoping not to get in this area, LOL, but c'est la vie with Priceline, right? I'd been bidding in the district and had been up to $185 for a 3.5* with not so much as an "increase your bid" offer. There's nothing in the city on Hotwire for these dates under $200. So I added Bethesda, knowing it was risky and hoping for something within walking distance the Metro, but ended up here. The Marriott claims to have a shuttle to the Metro and I do love the Marriott chain, so it'll be fine, just a bit more trouble. For this one, I bid $140 and they offered $173. I rebid at $150 and $155, and won it at $155. It's going for about $275 on their site, so it's a deal. :)
  6. I won this for a next-day stay in the middle of the week and found it to be perfectly nice. The employees were very helpful and friendly, in an understated way. It's an older building, which lends it a certain charm, but it's not chic and modern if that's what you're looking for. The rooms are a decent size, there was an empty fridge to use, and the bed was comfy. I had a room with 2 queens. The workout room is small, but adequate. Internet was $12 / night, I think, and it wasn't the speediest. It's about equidistant from both the DuPont Circle and Foggy Bottom metro stops, and I walked it in about 15 to 20 minutes. I prefer the walk to DuPont where you'll find more restaurants and life. However, the closer entrance to the metro at DuPont is currently closed for several months for renovation, so you have to walk even a bit farther. I didn't try the food in the hotel, as there are a couple decent coffee shops / bakeries and even a McDonald's for cheaper breakfast close by. All in all, I certainly wouldn't mind if it came up again.
  7. Well, shoot. I hate when my 1st bid gets accepted! Ah well. Still a good deal compared to what I've been seeing in my non-bidding searches.
  8. We won on priceline the Hilton Plaza and stayed for 2 nights in November 2011. It was adequate, but I'd personally hope for a different hotel in the future. The lobby is beautiful, the location is perfect for exploring the plaza area, and the employees were friendly and helpful. But, we found it very noisy, being able to hear everyone passing by in the hall as well as the TVs of both our neighbors. The room did not have an in-room safe, a fridge or a minibar. The beds were doubles, not queens. (Ultimately my fault for not even asking for a change to a king, though.) The parking is still $15 and reduced to $7.50 for HHonors members. While every hotel in the plaza area seems to charge for parking, the Hilton alone has an extremely large parking lot, and this fee struck me as just an extra money-maker for them. Considering the PL price we paid, I have no complaints, but if I'd paid full price, I would have been very unhappy.
  9. Used your PRICELINE links. :) Tried for a 4* in any of DuPont, WH or Convention Center. It was offering me $197, but I didn't want to pay that much, LOL. Dropped to 3.5*, and while bidding at $112, it started offering me $147. Ended up paying $130 and in the DoubleTree, which is in PL's WH area, but really is just a couple blocks from DuPont Circle. The DoubleTree is going for $260-ish on most of the booking sites right now.
  10. Thanks! Just wanted to add that I did use your links for all the searches and bidding! :) And just for reference, the Hilton was going for $140 on all the booking sites.
  11. I also just got the Hilton at the Plaza for $72. I know they charge $15 for parking, which is reduced to $7.50 if you're a HHonors members, so it's worth joining for that, even if you don't get HH points using PL. If anyone cares... I wanted the Plaza in particular and I started bidding low, trying for a 4* from $55 to $75. After not getting that, I dropped to 3.5* and started again at $55. I was offered to jump to $77 for a hotel. I tried $60 and $65 and was offered the $77 again. I had 1 bid left at 3.5* and could have dropped to a 3* for 1 attempt, so I tried $72 and got the Hilton. There were offers on Hotwire for a 3* for $85 or a 3.5* for 90, either of which I would've been happy to take, so I wasn't going to go that high on PL.
  12. Just got this for one night. Started at $110 and was rejected. My next bid was accepted at $111. Plus $25 in taxes. The going rate for this hotel this day seems to range from $314 to $350. There was an unnamed 4* on Hotwire for $160, if it matters.
  13. Hi! This was my 1st ever PRICELINE bid. Most of the hotels I was looking at in the area were going for over $250 on these dates, and this one is showing at $308 per night. So, probably some of you experts could have done better, but I'm pretty happy. :) Anyway, I particularly wanted the DuPont area, and $160 was my max before I would have dropped a star level. I think I started at $115 and I think the last rejected bid was $151? Sorry, I didn't think to keep track of that. This site is a great resource. I'll be sure to use the PRICELINE links whenever I bid again!
