  1. Hotwire listed a 3 1/2 star at $157.00 for several different dates in April 2016 for St. Croix. BetterBidding only listed Renaissance Carambola as a likely prior location for this star level. BetterBidding can now add the Tamarind Reef Resort to its list for 3 1/2 star resorts on Hotwire in St. Croix. The direct site for this resort lists prices from $200 and up. Compared to other sites for this resort for this time frame, it appears to be a reasonable deal. The resort looks great with very good reviews. We're looking forward to our stay.
  2. It looks like I posted the same thing twice on this string when I meant to put one under Hotwire and one under Priceline on this board. The responses are helpful. I'm mainly looking to identify this five star hotel before purchase since this listed price of $95 for any 5 star does seem to be a reasonable price. Of course, if I can both identify the likely property and then still try to get a lower price on Priceline I have also done that in the past as well. I appreciate your assistance and comments.
  3. I'm looking for a 5 Star Hotel in Athens, Greece for April 23-27, 2015. Hotwire has one listed at $95 per night in the Acropolis area. It lists the following amenities. Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Wheelchair accessible Does anyone know which hotel this would be? Does anyone have suggestions for a better deal by bidding on Priceline, and what 5 star hotels would be the likely Priceline deals? Thank you.
  4. I'm looking for a 5 Star Hotel in Athens, Greece for April 23-27, 2015. Hotwire has one listed at a 71% reduction from $326 to $95 per night in the Acropolis area. It also advises that there is a 75% approval rating. It lists the following amenities. Free Internet Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Wheelchair accessible Does anyone know which hotel this would be? Thank you.
  5. 3.5* Sheraton Sonoma County Petaluma, 745 Baywood Drive, Petaluma, CA 94954 for $70 + tax for March 1-4, 2013 Just got this for the Wineroad Barrel Tasting Weekend at what appears to be a very reasonable price. The Sheraton site lists the cheapest rooms at $179 plus tax, and even Priceline listed this at $179 + tax to buy directly. I started at 3.5* for Santa Rosa at $59 (since there were no 4* hotels listed in any of these areas). Rejected. Used a free bid with a non 3.5* location and upped the bid to $66 based on earlier similar accepted bids for other dates in the area. Rejected. Added the Rohnert Park/Petaluma area that also advised it had a 3.5* hotel and bid $70 which was accepted by the Sheraton @ Petaluma. It's on the lower end of the valley for going to the 120 Cloverdale/Healsdburg/Windsor/Santa Rosa wineries on the barrel-tasting tour, but should work out quite nicely for us anyway. I'm satisfied. Hope this is helpful to others.
  6. 3.5-star Hotel in Munich South - Unterhaching Holiday Inn MUNICH-UNTERHACHING Hotel Address:INSELKAMMERSTRASSE 7-9, Hotel: City State Zip:Unterhaching, DE, 82008 Phone:011-49-89-666910 This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby The direct booking listing for the Munich Holiday Inn site lists their cheapest advance payment room as $171.00 plus tax. Since this is the beginning of Oktoberfest, there are no "cheap" rooms online anywhere. For Oktoberfest starting on September 22, 2012 this year, the $135.00 plus tax was at least "reasonable" for 2 people. Probst!
  7. I was just successful for Budapest, Hungary for September 7-12, 2012 at $63 per night at the Hilton Budapest Westend. Over the past few days I limited myself in Budapeast to 5* only and increased from $53, $55 to $57, $59 by using 5* Pest and free re-bid with 5* Buda since no 5* was listed there, and then to $63 today in Pest, and it was directly accepted. The cheapest direct price listed on Priceline for booking the named hotel was $116.00, and on their direct Hilton booking site for the Hilton Budapest Westend they had a set advance purchase price at $104.00. Based on those prices, the $63.00 Priceline acceptance for this time of year when the Septemberfest and other food and wine festivals are going on in Budapest was a happy win for us. Some of our Budapest friends have told us we will really enjoy the direct train from the airport to the hotel, the nice shopping in the area of the Hilton, and the easy access to the old town, wine tastings, and tourist things to do for our first trip to Budapest. They did not believe we could get a 5* Hilton for $63 per night, especially at this time of year that they consider the best time to visit with the harvest festivals and wine festival season. Having seen that others have gotten this Hilton in the $60 range kept me bidding in those amounts even though the Priceline site popped up its notorious note in red to increase the bid because "...you have little chance of winning with the low bid." That "little chance" worked for us.
  8. Here are the details on the Hotwire booking: Principal Hotel Fleet Street ***Star 19/20 Fleet Street, Dublin, IE, Check-in: Thu, Aug 30, 2012 Check-out: Sun, Sep 2, 2012 This is the Temple Bar/South Central Dublin 2 area near Trinity College Room Type: for 2: Standard: Double / Twin Hotel Rate per night: $117.56 rate plus Taxes: $31.74 Subtotal for three days: $384.42 Hope this is helpful to others.
  9. Sorry about not being clear. The official Priceline listing area is "Metro Center - North Phoenix." The 3.5 * in this area is the Sheraton Crescent. We were also looking on Hotwire and their area includes Deer Valley area also.
  10. Thanks for input. The Aviva Stadium area places and hotels you mentioned were all sold out, but I was able to eventually get The 3* Principal Fleet Street Hotel, Temple Bar, Dublin at $130 per night for a double room which included the tax. It is an easy light rail couple stops away and in a very fun part of town. While I tried for a good Dublin hotel on PRICELINE, I wasn't able to get it here, but it came up on a 3* on HOTWIRE and when I got it I was pleased to see it was the newly remodeled Fleet Street Hotel.
  11. In helping a friend start on Priceline, they were able to get the 3.5* Sheraton Crescent for $60.00 per night for their Spring Baseball trip from March 18-23, 2012. They were very pleased and likely to be long term Priceline customers now. Good luck to others too.
  12. The Priceline bidding for a 4* in Phoenix Glendale/Peoria area is the Renaissance Phoenix Glendale Hotel & Spa. It is the only 4* in that area. I stayed there Jan. 1-3, 2012 and it is really nice if you can get it on Priceline. They have an extra $10 per day parking fee and they charge $12.95 extra per day for in-room internet, but they have it free on a couple computers in their business center or you can access it free in the hotel lobby. Good luck.
  13. I was just at Scottsdale Resort and Convention Center December 30, 2011 at a rate of $66 for the night and they do charge an extra $19 resort fee. Having stayed there before on a couple of occasions and knowing this that is why I bid low and have been accepted in the $50s and $60s before. Good luck.
  14. I didn't get any responses here to confirm the Hotwire selection, so instead went to Priceline and took a chance and limited my bid to 3 1/2 * Hotels and entered $93 (lower than the $101 Hotwire set price) and got the 3 1/2* Dinah's Garden Hotel in Palo Alto for November 26-27, 2011. Got this for the Saturday night of November 26-27, 2011 even though this is the ND-Stanford Football Game Day in Palo Alto. Under the circumstances I thought it was reasonable.
  15. I did use the HOTWIRE link here on the search. I haven't bought yet because I want to know the hotel first if anyone can help. Thanks.
  16. Please help me identify the following hotel for November 26-27, 2011: Listed on Hotwire at $101 3.5-star Hotel in Palo Alto - Menlo Park This Hotel features the following amenities: Fitness Center Guests have access to exercise equipment; an additional charge may apply. Pool(s) Property offers at least one pool area; hours and dates of operation may be seasonal. Restaurant(s) Property offers at least one restaurant on the premises; hours and days of operation may vary. Laundry Facilities (self-service) Thank you
  17. I'd like some help with good hotels near Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland - August 30-September 2, 2012 where Notre Dame will be playing Navy on September 1, 2012. I believe Dublin City Center South is best area, but am not familiar with area close around Aviva Stadium near Lansdowne Road in Ballsridge area. Any suggestions on Priceline and Hotwire options to get a good deal on a 5*, 4* or even 3* in a nice place close to the stadium would be appreciated. Thanks
  18. I was able to confirm this 4* is The Marriott Buttes in Tempe by the Diablo Stadium and not far from the airport. Thanks.
  19. I have already checked Priceline and Hotwire sites, and have a cancellable reservation at the Renaissance Glendale at $229 per night for the New Year and games. I know I have plenty of time, and hope to get a better Priceline or Hotwire deal for December 30, 2011-Jan. 3, 2012. Thanks for any suggestions.
  20. 3.5-star Hotel in Carefree: Carefree Resort and Conference Center Zone: Phoenix (Carefree) $50 + tax per night January 3-6, 2012 This Hotel features the following amenities: Resort Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Services I had reserved the room on their website at a AAA rate of $72 per night with cancellation pivileges. I then got on Hotwire to see a 3.5* property. The only 3.5* in Carefree is this resort, and a 5* Boulders Resort. Since the 3.5* was listed at $50, I went to Priceline to see if I could get it for less. The only 3.5* they had listed in Carefree was this same resort. A $48 bid for a 3.5* or above was rejected. I then finished the Hotwire acceptance at the $50 rate and it was confirmed as getting the same Carefree Resort place I had a regular reservation on at a $22 per day savings. I then cancelled the regular reservation and have a better price then I could have imagined. Thanks.
  21. What is the likely 4* Hotel listed as follows: Zone--Tempe-ASU Price--$71 Date-Dec. 31, 2011-Jan. 3, 2012 Amenities list is: Resort Smoke free rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Resturaunt(s) Business Center High Speed Internet Golf Nearby Tennis Nearby Spa Recommended in 90 % of Hotwire An earlier post with this list of amenities shows that it may be The Buttes. That would be great. But are there other possibilities? Thanks.
  22. I want the 4* Renaissance near the football stadium in Glendale AZ for 12/31/11-1/3/12 for New Year's, Cardinal-Seahawks and Fiesta Bowl. On Priceline they list it at $311 to get directly. On their own site they list it at $229 plus tax and extra fees per night. My Priceline bids of $125 and $132 (by using Happy Valley as an extra no 4* location) have been rejected. I know this is a high use time frame, but has anyone used a Priceline strategy in the past that helped get this 4* at a better price during football game weekends? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  23. I just got the Resort Phoenix (Scottsdale) Scottsdale Resort and Conference Center for bid of $66 + tax for December 30, 2011. I had checked Hotwire and saw $69 for a 4* Scottsdale or $71 for 4* Tempe, and then used a lower bid on Priceline of $59--rejected, and then a closer bid on Priceline of $66 and got this Resort. We've stayed there before and enjoyed it.
