  1. Was booked into the Tulalip Casino Hotel on the Monday, but wanted a hotel for Sunday night Opened up the site and linked to Hot.wire. Searching Edmonds, Wa gives you a broad range of hotels north and south of Seattle. Just the wife and I so nothing fancy is needed nor with an extensive amenities list These are the ones that are at the hotel 95% love it 2** Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Self-service laundry Internet access Did not see anything posted on here. Price was right so we booked Ended up with the Extended Stay America - Seattle - Mukilteo 3917 Harbour Pointe Blvd SW, Mukilteo Looked up reviews and it seems hit or miss Also looked at the hotels actual site and rates were more in US$ than we were charged for including taxes in CAD$. Rate per night $58.16 plus taxes for a total of $74.72 Hope this helps anyone
  2. 2nd week of Spring Break and wanted a hotel in downtown Vancouver. Zone was Vancouver - Downtown Shopping and entertainment district area Browsed the forums and used the link to HOTWIRE to search for our potential hotel. Kids need an indoor pool so clicked on the amenties and clicked on indoor pool and a selection of hotels came up. 3*** hotel for $54 CAD came up. 80% recommended Good! Free Internet Pool(s) Pet friendly Fitness center Business center Indoor pool(s) Smoke-free rooms Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry Internet access Tennis nearby Booked the hotel and got the Coast Plaza Hotel & Suites at 1763 Comox St (close to English Bay)
  3. Review of the hotel after the trip Coming from the coast (Vancouver) its a bit of a drive to Golden so we were up early to get on the road. Arrived into Golden around 7:00 at night so we were tired, but excited to get into the pool and hot tub. Room was a typical room, little on the older side with some wear and tear. Pool and hotub was good for the kids. In the winter after a day on the hills I guess it would be okay, but the for the price, it's not worth it, but you are in Golden and stuck. Breakfast was okay typical Would we be back - only if in a pinch and we're too tired to drive to Calgary
  4. Family Day in BC and wanted to spend some time down in the Seattle area without breaking the bank. Need an indoor pool and free breakfast First came to Betterbidding and clicked the HOTWIRE link. Entered in our dates of Sunday Feb 10 to Feb 11 Selection of hotels came up and after selecting the various amenities for our needs we had 3 choices Came back to Betterbidding to see what choices have been won in the past. Not many choices came up from this area. We thought it would be the Hilton Garden Inn so I researched that hotel from various other sites to check it out. Was happy with what the hotel was able to provide, so after talking it over with the family, we decided to book. Went through with booking and the winning bid came up with the Holliday Inn Express Bothell Oh well back to the various other sites to see if we got a good deal and looks like Hotwire beat the prices anywhere from $20 to $80. We will report back after the stay to give a review 3-star Hotel in Bothell - Woodinville - Kirkland 3* $66 for a total of $79.41 cad. This Hotel features the following amenities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower
  5. Thanks for the update, the sisters in law have decided to now go with the Venetian. Never knew their expensive tastes when I joined the family. I am not much of a 5 star person as most of the time will be spent outside the room, but happy wife, happy life.
  6. Thank you for your reply. It looks like the Bellagio will not be for us if we have to go through the regular channels
  7. Hi there Anytime we go away (and it's not that often) we rely on your site along with your HOTWIRE link to get us a hotel that will not break the budget. This trip the wife and her family want to go to Vegas and stay at the Bellagio. I did a search of your Nevada Hotwire hotels and notice that the Bellagio does not come up that often and only has a few amenities listed in the package deals at the bottom of the Nevada page hotels. Is it possible to win the Bellagio with either Hotwire or Priceline? If so, could you please tell me what I should be looking for in terms of amenities and all the other hints that help specify the Bellagio. We will be leaving for Vegas on March 27, 2013 and staying for 4 nights (check out on the 31). Flying out of either Vancouver, Bellingham, or Seattle. Right now on Expedia we can get a price (for two people) of $1162.22 flying out of Bellingham and staying in the Deluxe Room. (its $1204.26 for the Resort Deluxe Room). If we book individually through Alaska and the Bellagio itself, we can get the flight for $575.20 for two people and the Deluxe room for $779.52 (total cost $1354.72) and the Resort room for $882.92 (total cost $1461.02). Can you give any helpful hints or is it even possible to book the Bellagio using Hotwire or Priceline? Are these good prices for the Bellagio? Thanks
  8. Traveling to Edmonton, Alberta and the best way to travel is via Highway 1 as that is the most populated. We usually stop in Golden, BC as from the coast that is a good stopping spot (around 700kms). Came straight to BetterBidding to see what this site would have for Golden BC Canada - nothing came up and was a little disappointed, but if no one posts, then I guess there would not be a post. So I clicked the link to HOTWIRE and came up with three choices. The three choices were for $109, $116, & $120. We were hoping that one of the choices would be the one with a water slide. Tried to look at the amenities and none of them said water slide, so we went with the one with the pool, hot tub, and free breakfast. What came up was the Ramada Golden Limited. These were the amenities that Hotwire said the hotel had. Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet As I mentioned, a little disappointed about not getting the water slide, but that is not chain hotel. So I hope this can help out my fellow travelers when deciding on a hotel in Golden BC Canada.
  9. Wanting to take the 3 kids to Portland on the train (Amtrak) and were looking for a hotel that has a pool that can not break the budget. After much looking around found a post on this site that said that a 2 1/2 star was the La Quinta Hotel in Nob Hill. Amenities Include Pool Complimentary breakfast Fitness Center, Business Center and Hi Speed Internet. Looked up the reviews on tripadvisor and they seemed really good. Some were not so positive, but then later ones said that they had been refurbished. So used the link to HOTWIRE and booked the hotel. Paid $53 night. Only problem seems that the hotel location is not within walking distance of the downtown core. So we rented a car. Hint - we did not go for the package deal of hotel and car - that price was about $40 more expensive than booking the hotel first, then booking the car at a different booking. I know that the Portland train station has rental cars, but through the hotwire site, we could not pick up the rental car at the train station. So we'll have to phone the car rental place for a pickup.
  10. Just a follow up to the Hotel from this past weekend. We had no problems following the directions to the hotel and it was only about 5 miles from the Alderwood mall. Checked in and inquired about places to eat and the clerk had a hard time recommending a burger place to eat around the hotel. I started asking for certain places like 5 guys and he did find the location for us on the internet and printed off the directions. He did recommend Dick's and we did try that out on Saturday night and it was good. Put the bags into the room and found the room okay. It was CLEAN and so was the bathroom. The TV was on the smaller size, but at least they had a cable box with some decent channels. There was a queen size bed and it was bouncier than we were used to. What is with all the hotels and where they place their shower head? I am 6 foot 1 and every time I visit a hotel I have to bend my back to get my head under the shower head. Can hotels not place the head higher? The shower/tub unit had a slow drain so it was like showering in ankle deep water. Not really an issue, but should be noticed. We were really surprised that it was only a 1 star hotel. We were happy with breakfast. Juice (apple, orange, cranberry) and water dispenser. Bagels with butter or jam. Hard Boiled eggs. Bread with a toaster. Also had a duel waffle iron that when followed directions that were posted made a great filling meal. Were only 5 miles from the Alderwood mall, Northgate Mall was also just down the I5 and 20 minutes south on Hwy 99 was the downtown core of Seattle. When leaving on Sunday, the Seattle Premium Outlets were only 20 minutes north. Would we be back - Yes.
  11. We wanted to head down to Seattle to shop before Christmas and the grandparents decided to take the kids for a sleepover so we decided to spend the weekend shopping at the Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood and then the Seattle Premium Outlets from Dec 9th to Dec 11th 2011. Started off by using the link to HOTWIRE and searched for Seattle and modified the search using the interactive map for areas north of the downtown core. I was a little disappointed to read very little descriptions about this region to figure out the hotel, but I guess someone has to add to the topic. I ended up just booking the hotel for $37.04 per night. Amenities: Airport Shuttle, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Business Center and High Speed Internet 1 Star Hotel Hotel is the Travelodge Seattle North Edmonds. After I found out the name of the hotel, I checked out their own website and Hotwire beat the price by $20 night. Also checked the reviews on Trip Advisor and the reviews sounded decent, but I guess we'll have to decide when we get there. I'll post more after the weekend when we get home.
  12. Just a follow up after the stay I had done lots of research to make sure that this hotel was sufficient for our needs of the family. We were very impressed by the hotel when we arrived. The kids loved the pool and the hot breakfast was better than we expected. We wish there was a place to get towels for the pool instead of at the front desk, and the breakfast room was extremely crowded, but these are minor issues that we can overlook. One last thing that was a little annoying was the smoking room. Where we are from, smoking is a thing of the past for being indoors, so when we book the room through hotwire, we never gave it a thought to phone the hotel to make sure we had a non smoking room. Sure enough, we get there and the only room left with the two beds was smoking. The person at the front desk was very apologetic, and offer us a discount if we book through them next time. I did tell him that I did look at booking with them directly, before I book through hotwire, but the website could come no where close to the price of hotwire. The breakfast is very good, but the people who take advantage of this amenity at this hotel are not very friendly and are rude. Had to wait until the hot scrambled eggs and sausages were refilled, then people skipped into line ahead of me to take lots of it. I actually asked this one large lady if the 30 sausages she was piling on her plate were all for her.
  13. I wanted to find a place for shopping the Seattle Premium Outlets, so did not know what area to try to get a spot in. At first we thought about staying close to Space Needle area, but then figured we would only be there for a short time and shopping the rest of the time. Then we figured that maybe closer to the Outlets would be more handy. So typed in Seattle in the HOTWIRE search and there were many that came up. Looked on the area map and clicked and unclicked areas that we needed and updated hotels. Needed a pool for the kids and complimentary breakfast would be nice if it came up. So eventually came across this one in the Everett North Area Amenities are airport shuttle complimentary breakfast fitness center pool laundry facilities (self service) After reading these sites thoroughly, I finally came across a post that said that it might be the Best Western Cascadia Inn. Pulled up Trip Advisor and the reviews were good. I ended up booking the hotel and sure enough the hotel was the Best Western Cascadia Inn Everett, WA Price was $73.38 per night for a total of $175.90 including taxes in CAD prices. Here is the strange part - when I registered to write this review, I redid the search in Hotwire and the same amenities came up in the Everett North area, but the price was $4 cheaper this time around ($69.36) How does that work? Can I ask Hotwire for a refund? Anyways - hope this helps anyone looking for shopping the Seattle Premium Outlets
