1. I started bidding at $130 and it was accepted at $160. With taxes, fees, and "resort" fee all in would have been $236. Then I looked at the hotel's actual website, which gave me a base fee of $130. I spent 50 minutes on the phone to get them to refund the difference per the Best Price Guarantee. This is the second time I've found a cheaper price on my own and had to call to get the difference, and I've only done Priceline about 10x.
2. Budget is $150-200 anywhere in Manhattan or Brooklyn. Express deal is giving me $180 for Hudson and SoHo 54 which seems pretty good. Since there seem to be a decent number of 3* and up for under $200 I'm wondering if I can get a higher star category if I bid the same price. I have to bring a car so I'm preparing to spend $60 for an overnight parking garage, just figured I'll find one on my own nearby.
3. I had to book a last minute hotel (one day notice). The only listed amenities were business center and "Bed choice available". It ended up being Washington Hilton. I think 4* is a bit of an exaggeration for this hotel but it's still a crazy good deal.
4. I was really hoping to get Le Meridian Arlington so I started with the PRICELINE link and followed this thread exactly and did the following: Started at $40/night for a 3.5* in Arlington, VA - rejected Added Dupont Circle and $45/night - rejected Added Crystal City for $50/night - rejected Added Downtown - Whitehouse for $55/night - accepted $198 all in for 3 nights
5. I used the PRICELINE link from the forums. Starting bid, $65 for 4* downtown. Re-bid $75, added midtown, and got the Westin Peachtree Plaza, which is exactly the hotel I was hoping for
6. Update: After factoring in resort fees, I decided it wasn't worth it for those amenities. I went in the opposite direction and ended up keeping my reservation at WDW Port Orleans (Paid $154/nt). Thank you for your assistance.
7. Thank you. I will sit on it. What about this one? (or should I start a new thread?) 3 adults, 6/9-6/11 4*, $86/nt 80% recommended This Hotel features the following amenities: Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower I'm guessing Sheraton LBV? 4* seems like a stretch. I was hoping for one of the 4* resorts for under $100.
8. Searched 3 adults. 2 nights. $73/nt Amenities: Free parking Pet Friendly Fitness Center Pool Restaurants Laundry High Speed Internet Golf Nearby Children's Activity Program Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Resort fee $15 / 85% approved Any insight?
9. Downtown was the 3rd to last one I added, last being uppper west & upper east.
10. I started with Midtown East and by the end I think I had selected every zone in Manhattan except Harlem. I tried again today and the winning bid ended up being Marriott financial district for $255, $314 after taxes & fees. Then I went through Marriott's site and was quoted $254/$297 inclusive. Called PL for price match and they gave me $26 back - $1 price difference + $25. I wish they would take into account their own higher fees. Total savings of $17. I'm trying to look on the bright side that it's still better than any options on Hotwire, Hotels.com, or small B&B's. Thank you for your informative posts. I hope to try my luck again next time.
11. I struck out. I started at 4*,$130 and kept going until my max bid was $250 and down to 3*. I gave up.
12. Hi. This is only my 2nd time using Priceline and I'm a little overwhelmed but your forums have helped me wrap my head around it. I think I get the re-bidding process and starting with a lower star, but I'm just confused about how to make it so that my lowest star isn't the one I'm stuck with? Dates 5/19 - 5/20 Wants: 3* or better, anywhere in Manhattan, max $250 (after taxes and fees)
13. I've seen people getting Fairfield Inn for $35 so I was aiming for that. Started my bid yesterday at $31 for BDL airport area, went up to $35 and failed. This was my 1st time bidding so I didn't start with higher stars and move down. Tried it the next day using the stars method and kept getting rejected. Finally upped my bid to $40, expanded my areas, and got accepted. Not a great deal for me since a) it's 2* (website lists at $70) and :) I wanted to be near the airport. With taxes and fees - $53
