  1. Best price I found through National was $391 total, while your total is probably around $338. So you saved about $53. I say you got a pretty good deal. Szymon
  2. I won this on 5/24, sorry for not posting earlier. Used SavingsBarn link to start bidding. I was bidding for 2.5*, my last unaccepted bid was $42. Was upgraded to a 3* when I bid $43, got the Rocky Hill Marriott. Regular rate on marriott.com is $99 per night, so saved over 50%. Szymon

    Car Rental

Chad, If you use the $15 coupon on the Vacation Outlet web site, you can get a midsize from Alamo for $222. A full-size is $23 more. Hertz has a compact picking up at the Riviera Casino, dropping off at SFO for $199 using CDP 706900. Szymon
  4. Do you live in the Louisville area? If you do you can avoid the airport charges/fees by picking up in-town. Can you pick up any earlier than on the 11th? Reason I ask is that the rental car companies charge a lot more if you don't have a Saturday night stay. Example from Louisville airport: Hertz midsize 6/11 - 6/15 = $280 with taxes/fees Hertz midsize 6/10 - 6/15 = $220 with taxes/fees after $20 Entertainment Book coupon Looks like the local Hertz office doesn't require the Saturday night stay... Locally from Hertz Local Edition: Hertz midsize 6/10 - 6/15 = $176 with taxes/fees after $20 Entertainment Book coupon Hertz midsize 6/11 - 6/15 = $162 with taxes/fees Hertz will give you true unlimited mileage so no worries about drive to Chicago. 5. Definitely call Hertz and try to request a bigger vehicle... they may require you pay extra though. That's one of the disadvantages in booking through Priceline... a minivan directly through alamo can be had for $278 incl. taxes for the week. Maybe Priceline will offer you a 1 time cancellation... good luck! Szymon
  6. It's definitely fine for a 1 night stay. I just got back from my night there. Check-in was simple, clerk mentioned I was "with Priceline". My reservation was in their system as a non-smoking queen room. The room had a microwave, range, fridge, and sink when you entered, and the bed/desk/TV/dresser farther inside. Note: the only bathroom amenity is soap - so remember to bring shampoo/conditioner if needed. Check-out was fast and the only thing said was that "since this is a Priceline room, your confirmation from them is your receipt." Have a good stay, Szymon
  7. I bid for a 2* hotel in Manchester-Vernon and got the Extended Stay America at $32. If you're staying 1 night this might suit you, but if you're staying longer be aware they don't offer daily maid service. Also, the web site states high speed internet is not free. Szymon
  8. I placed this bid on 5/12 and forgot to post... This was my first bid for the Manchester/Vernon area and it was accepted on the first try at $32. The price with taxes is $43. Best price on the Extended Stay web site is $94.99 for the night. Szymon
  9. thereuare, The Hilton is located right in downtown so it should be in the downtown zone. Szymon
  10. Using SavingsBarn link, started bidding at $43 and raised $2 per rebid. Accepted for $47 at the Hilton Norfolk Airport. Best price on the hotel's web site was $109 per night. Thanks! Szymon
  11. Some reviews of the Milford Plaza. For your dates,Expedia has it for $179... use the link in this section to support this site while you book. Szymon
  12. Actually bid this one yesterday, so day before the stay. Bidding was for the Meriden - Wallingford, and Hamden - North Haven zones. Tried bidding $32 the day before, but got the "raise your price by $8 to try again now" message. Accepted at $34 at the Fairfield Inn, taxes/fees are $11.46 for a total of $45.46. Marriott web site wanted $99 for the night. Szymon
  13. As mentioned by pirate, Hertz doesn't charge for a spouse if you're a Gold Club member. Also, for AAA members (if you use the AAA CDP), any AAA member that shows their license and AAA card at the counter when you pick up the car is included at no charge. National doesn't charge for a spouse if you're an Emerald Club member. Right now they are running a promotion on their site where you can enroll for free ($50 savings). Szymon
  14. Hi, Going for a weekend trip down to Washington, DC. Parking is cheaper in Crystal City than in downtown, so decided to bid for 2.5* in Crystal City. First bid of $41 was accepted at the Courtyard by Marriott. Your Offer Price: $41.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $82.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.09 Total Charges: $101.09 Bid was placed on Sunday 2/12 through SavingsBarn.com Thanks! Szymon
  15. Hello, Need to be in Jersey City on 2/15. Bid up to $65 for a 3* in Jersey City but was rejected. Decided to try 2.5* in Elizabeth to try to get the Country Inn and Suites. Bid $47 (no free rebids) and was accepted. Your Offer Price: $47.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $47.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $14.24 Total Charges: $61.24 All bidding was done on 2/10. 16. Just wanted to update my experience in picking up the car. I was assigned a 2 door Chevy Cobalt which the rep said was an "upgrade" from the Aveo I reserved. No hard sell for gas or insurance. Szymon
  17. Same day bid for economy car at Newark: pick up 9PM 11/10 drop off 9:30PM 11/14 Hotwire wanted 22.95/day or $122 with taxes/fees Bid $17, accepted Avis - total with taxes/fees is $99.58 On Orbitz lowest priced car was Budget at $207 ($40/day). Avis wanted $300 on Orbitz. I try to use coupons when I rent cars, but with $40/day+ prices at Newark, bidding was the better option this time. I'll report as to what car I get - will probably get bumped to compact as I haven't seen many economy cars on the rental lots lately. Szymon
  18. Have been bidding this for a few weeks now - started very low and was working my way up. Bid 2.5* Downtown and South zones. Last rejected bid was $40. Got the downtown Courtyard at $42: Your Offer Price: $42.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $84.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $20.28 Total Charges: $104.28 Szymon
  19. Yes, this is in the downtown zone. I just checked my previous bid and it looks like I did not previously bid downtown. My previous bid was $43 but only for BUF, Amherst, and Grand Island. The rate on the Hyatt site is $129 + tax so I'm happy with the price I paid. Szymon
  20. I've been trying to bid for the Buffalo area for a while now. Decided to try bidding higher than the low $40s I've bid before since this is a holiday weekend and I didn't want to wait too long. Bid 2.5* and included Buffalo, Airport, Amherst, and Grand Island zones. Came back with an upgrade to the 3* Hyatt for $48. This is a 1 night stay. After taxes and fees, total was $61.85. The reviews on TripAdvisor don't look great, but hopefully the night will be fine. Szymon
