  1. Previous bid of $45 was rejected. Used your PRICELINE link. $46 accepted at the Doubletree Miami Mart. Total for 2 rooms including tax = $112.40 Doubletree.com has a price of $135/nt/room = $304 total for 2 rooms including tax. Szymon
  2. 1. No, Priceline wins cannot be changed or canceled. If you decide not to use your reservation, you will not get a refund. 2. You may have to pay a resort fee depending on the hotel you win. Other fees such as internet access and parking may be charged as well. Szymon
  3. Go to VacationOutlet.com, click on Car Rentals, and National. Then click on the Free Weekend Day which will bring you to the reservation page. Enter your dates 2/28 - 3/4. If you choose the midsize, the total price will be $149.24. The coupon is still accepted as you have a Saturday night stay and are within the 5 day maximum restriction of the coupon. $26 was your bid on PRICELINE, what I meant was that with taxes/fees your total would be $143 or within $6 of National's rate. Szymon
  4. $26 = $143, and a reservation with National for a midsize using a free weekend day coupon = $149. National lets you select your own car and bypass the counter (if you join the Emerald Aisle program) so I don't recommend saving $6 and giving up these benefits. Szymon
  5. This is still far in advance, and I'd be wary of making a nonrefundable reservation right now. I suggest booking the cheapest cancellable backup and continue to watch rates. I noticed that the rates are very high right now which could mean 1) some event is taking place during this time 2) the rental car companies are hoping on those who book ahead of time to pay these rates. I noticed if there is no special event, the car rental companies usually lower their rates to generate more bookings. Sorry if anything I said is confusing but it's still early in the morning :) Szymon
  6. You can wait to see if Hertz extends their Weekender promo til June (they extended it once before) Szymon
  7. My Dad reports that his stay was fine and he enjoyed the hotel. Szymon
  8. Was bidding for a 3* in the Universal zone by raising bid by $1 and adding free rebid zone. At $35 was told I could get a free rebid by raising by $9. Ignored this and continued raising by $1. Last failed bid was $38. Accepted at $39 by the Hyatt Place Convention Center. Very happy with this as this is a favorite chain of ours. Total with taxes/fees = $96.06. Best rate on hyatt.com with taxes/fees ~ $240, so a great savings. As always used your PRICELINE link. I will need another night on 3/22 so will see if we get the same hotel. Szymon
  9. My Dad decided to stay 1 night in the Jacksonville area. Checked almost all of the zones (except for Amelia Island and Yulee) and bid $27 for a 2*. Accepted on the first bid (should've gone lower, but no time left and no free rebids). Used your PRICELINE link. Homestead Jacksonville Baymeadows $37.57 total with taxes. Their site had a rate with taxes of $58 so a $22 savings. Reviews for this hotel are good :) Szymon
  10. Was bidding for my Dad as he's driving from New Jersey to Orlando and needed an overnight stay half way through his trip. Started low and increased by $2 increments. Last failed bid was $44. $46 was accepted at the Holiday Inn Bordeaux - total with taxes/fees = $59. Best rate on Holiday Inn web site is $102 + t/f = $115 so a savings of $56. TripAdvisor reviews are bad but it's one night so hopefully it'll be fine. This is also a new hotel for your list. Used BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Szymon
  11. $20 bid = $108.61 total. Are you picking up at Noon or later? If you are you can use the Hertz 50% off weekend promo. At hertz.com, put in 205418 for the CDP (Southwest airlines) and 104182 for the coupon code. The total for a midsize will be $127.66 Szymon
  12. Yes, valid with a minimum weekly rental (5 days+). Only on rentals until March 31, 2009: https://www.hertz.com/rentacar/specialoffer...;TabLink=tlink1 Szymon
  13. Alamo has a $10/day weekend special on Alamo.com that's available for your dates... Szymon
  14. In Vegas, you would get one of the companies at the consolidated Rental Car Center accessible with a shuttle.A newcomer to cheap rentals in Vegas is Simply Wheelz, check their prices and compare with HOTWIRE as well. Szymon
  15. You would care about the company if: - you have frequent renter status with one or more companies that gives you free upgrades, faster service, etc. - you want to earn frequent flier miles, hotel points, etc. - you want to rent a specific specialty car (Hertz Prestige/Green/Fun Collections, Avis Cool Cars) Szymon
  16. The title says Avis, shouldn't it say Alamo :) Enjoy your rental, Szymon
  17. This was a last minute bid I made with your PRICELINE link when my flight into OKC was delayed 3 hours. Total with taxes and fees was $49.47. The rate at the Candlewood Suites web site was $79. I called the hotel to make sure someone would be at the front desk at 2AM, and it seems like they have a 24 hour front desk. Hotel and room were fine for a 1 night stay. Szymon
  18. Good point - I forgot about that option. Szymon
  19. Since the rates are very high at the airport, I don't think you'll come close to $23 if you bid on Priceline. It will require a much higher bid to pick up the car from the airport. Looks like the I-Drive rates are from Dollar - on dollar.com I see 12/30 6PM pickup and 1/5 6PM dropoff (at MCO) for $134.88 for a compact + taxes = $159.62 total. $134.88 is about $23/day. I think you only have 2 options if you want this rate - 1) to standby for earlier flights 2) to take a shuttle to your hotel on 12/30 and rent locally on 12/31 Szymon
  20. Some updates I see in my past history: Marriott Pueblo, Colorado - was 3*, now 3.5* Courtyard Hartford Windsor, CT - was 2.5*, now 3* Sheraton Raritan Center, Edison NJ - was 3*, now 3.5* Courtyard Edison Woodbridge NJ - was 2.5*, now 3* Hyatt Place Inverness, Birmingham AL - was 2.5*, now 3* Courtyard Savannah, GA - was 2.5*, now 3* Providence Marriott, Providence RI - was 3*, now 3.5* Courtyard Woburn, MA - was 2.5*, now 3* Rocky Hill Marriott - Rocky Hill, CT - was 3*, now 3.5* Woodbridge Hotel and Conference Center, Woodbridge NJ - was 3* (when it was a Sheraton), now 2* Szymon
  21. One thing to keep in mind - $14.95 * 7 days at Hotwire = $170.65 total. Alamo using the 1 free day coupon at vacationoutlet.com for a compact = $156.71 total. So HOTWIRE is not cheaper than booking direct. Szymon
  22. Was trying for 2 rooms 9/26 - 9/28 in the Springfield /Hartford area. Previous bid of $55 was rejected. $58 was accepted at the Courtyard in Windsor. FYI I had $10 bonus cash so this was actually $48+BC. Total for 2 rooms was $231.30 as a result of the bonus cash. Marriott.com rate is $99/nt/room = $443.52 total so saved 50%. Szymon
  23. Started bidding at $42 a few days ago and retrying every day. Only 1 free rebid zone in this area. At $48 I got a counteroffer of $62 which I ignored. At $52, I got a counteroffer of $67 which I ignored. Bid $54 and got an acceptance at the Pueblo Marriott. Total for the 1 night is $67.77 - marriott.com is $109 ($121.86 total) Szymon
