  1. There was no icon for smoke-free rooms, it was just mentioned in their confirmation email.
  2. I had never heard of this hotel and didn't know what to expect. But we were very pleasantly surprised. It was about 2 blocks from the south end of Dupont Circle in a quiet neighborhood. The desk person immediately "upgraded" us to a larger room with an exercise bicycle. They were extremely friendly. Our room was very spacious and lovely. There was a complimentary wine tasting, cookies and milk before bed, and coffee in the lobby in the morning. This was a great deal at $109! Amenities: Boutique hotel, business center, high-speed internet, restaurant
  3. Wish I had tried lower since it went through right away, but can't complain about $70. In fact, we got 2 rooms at that price. Hopefully the hotel will be a bit better than some of the recent reviews indicated.
  4. I first tried $50, which I had gotten a few weeks earlier (and forgot to post here). Because this bid was for tonight, they declined that offer but suggested adding $14. So, for $64 I got the Hilton City Center, which is a really nice hotel, newly remodeled a year or 2 ago. The listed rate on the Hilton site was $109.
  5. I wasn't as lucky. We need 2 rooms for 11/24 to 11/27, 2005, so I tried this bid at $120, was rejected. I added another zone and upped it to $125, rejected again. Added another zone, then another, just got rejected at $135 a night for a 4* in all New York zones. I know that's low but thought I'd try based on this priceline win. We actually need a room for 4, so I hoped I could get 2 for the price of 1. Doesn't always work.
  6. How can I be sure to get a room that will sleep 4 in NYC, either on Hotwire or Priceline?
  7. Does that mean that if I request a room that sleeps 4, I'm guaranteed a room with 2 beds? I'm looking for a hotel for Thanksgiving and I see a 4* midtown hotel that's a good price ($344) for those days, but I'm worried about getting stuck with a room that won't sleep 4.
  8. Forgot to mention amenities: restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center.
  9. Just got this for 4/9/2005. I don't think this hotel was on the list. It looks nice but the pool is outdoors only. I'll write a review after we've stayed there. Must be a busy weekend because my bid for an equivalent hotel on Priceline for $50 was rejected.
  10. I just got the Concord Hilton for two nights, 3/25 to 3/27, at $61, which is disappointing because the lowest rate listed on their own site is $80, so not a really great savings. Also, the hotel doesn't look like it merits 3.5 stars, but I'll report in after we stay there. This hotel was not in your hotel list or mentioned by anyone else, so you may want to add it to the list. The amenities listed are restaurant, pool, fitness center, golf and tennis. As it turns out, the golf and tennis are a drive away and not affiliated with the hotel, so I feel a bit duped. We're actually staying in the area another two nights and am wondering about the 4* hotel listed in the same area for $106, a customer favorite. It lists a restaurant, pool, fitness center and biz center. I had hoped we'd end up at the Renaissance ClubSport Hotel, which is discussed a bit on this site. Any chance that is it?
  11. I saw the comments elsewhere on the site about getting rooms that sleep four, but I wondered if anyone has additional tips that are specific to Europe. We're trying to book rooms that accommodate us and two children (specifically, in Berlin), and I know many hotels in Europe don't even have such rooms. Is it too risky to use Priceline or Hotwire this way?
  12. I'm always nervous about where I'll end up with both these services, so on a recent trip to New York City, we booked just the first night so we could check out the hotel. It turned out to be the Westin at Times Square that many others have written about. Once we got there and were happy with it (paid $137 plus $28 tax), we used the hotel's business center to make another bid for the rest of our stay. We could pick out the hotel easily from the listings, and even though we technically had to check out and back in, the managers made sure we could keep the same room.
