Got this room at 25% off the advanced purchase rate of $68. Am going shopping at Woodburry common outlet mall and Mahwah, nanuet, chester (Middletown), bear Mountain and Highland cant be had at 2 star for my max cap of $50. Thus expanded to Fishkill. As the Independence Day sale is on, prices around the area are rather high for 2-4 Jul 2012 Happy for the bid. Good to save a few more bucks here and there.

I was willing to pay about $500 for a midsize SUV from JFK for the period 2-13 Jul 2012. Even to go as far as travelling to LGA or EWR to pick up the car for 3 person and 3 luggages. I tried bidding on priceline up to $35 per day (around 550 in total inclusive of tax) and was not successful. In the end, I use carrental.com and reserve a car. I monitored the car prices every other day and my initial booking was as follows: 1. Enterprise (2-13 Jul midsize SUV) EWR - 427.14 include tax 2. Thrifty (2-13 Jul midsize SUV)JFK - 478.83 include tax 3.Dollar (2-13 Jul midsize SUV)JFK - 428.87 include tax 4. Thrifty (2-13 Jul midsize SUV)JFK - 367.74 include tax (Rate code RXHW8 - given automatically by thrifty and not keyed in - everyone can use) Point is dont panic when the prices that you bid dont turn up well. I just had to exercised patience in bidding. The latest i check the prices for the same duration is between $680-$800. I am surprise that prices fluctuate so wildly in the span of a couple of days. I doubt I will get any better rates than the 357.74. But I am still monitoring and hoping for the best.

Tried bidding the 3 Stars for all of Buffalo (except downtown and south of downtown) for the dates 4-6 July 2012 at $50. Reduced to 2(1/2) stars at $50 and nothing. Succeeded at the 2 stars for RRI Buffalo Amherst. My bid was $50 + $7 (Bonus cash) = $57 Total real cost per night is $50 + $13.16 (tax) = $63.16 Still cheaper than the retail rates of $72 (without tax) Am happy as the reviews for the RRI is pretty good on both google and tripadvisor. In addition, it's the 4 July and my parents and I would like to catch the 4 July fireworks over the falls. So I guess hotel rates in that area would be a little steep.

Will be in town for the admission of attorney on 10 Jul 2012. Decided to book earlier to prevent the rush for hotel rooms in Albany. Priceline non-bid price is $67 and my winning bid is $50. With taxes $123.78 for two nights. Savings of about 24-25%. Not that great a savings, consider that for $67 I could get a double bed room instead of a king. Not happy with the win but it will do.

I got the sheraton brooklyn from 3-7 Aug @ $99 per night. It was the exact hotel that i wanted and the best price off the starwood website is $135. normal price is abt $193 HOTWIRE price 115

Well it is the ny bar exam weekend. All the hotels in downtown are full. I bidded for 3star till USD 70 in Amherst, Airport and Downtown and was unsuccessful. then i tried lowering to 2star and bidded till USD 60 and was unsuccessful. Finally after many tries, i lowered to 1star and bidded at 35, 38 and landed Extended Stay America Amherst @ USD 40 per night excluding tax. There is an option to extend at the same rate. But i will decide only after i check in. I may be able to snag a better deal after the peak period where the ny bar crowd leaves buffalo.
