  1. Already have a backup...Courtyard Midtown East...but was intrigued by Hotwire offering of a 4* in Midtown East with 90% Hotwire rating. Amenitiies via BiddingHelper.com: Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet access, Accessible of travel, in room accessibility, roll in shower, and accessible bathroom. Thanks.
  2. Just a note related to free internet...sometimes the free internet is just available in the lobby area of the property, and not the rooms.
  3. Being close to the Ferry Building and construction would point to the Hyatt rather than the Hilton or Le Meridien. Our recent trips over the past few months found construction going on outside of the Hyatt near the cable car terminus. I did a search for dates in January, and Hotwire offered a 4* in the FD/E are but with the Spa amenity, which usually points to the Hilton. Not being a real gambler, but a consumate day trader, I figure a two out of three chance it would not be the Hilton. I have a bit of trouble with what some people post as to the amenities after their wins. I always expct the Hilton to have the Spa amenity, and when it doesn't, I wonder if they have it right. Good luck.
  4. If you are not a Club member, just call LMT at the number listed on their site. It usually takes a couple of days to negotiate, but worth a try. The Candlewood Suites is still listed as "available" in any number of configurations and rates.
  5. Rass2008, You have plenty of time and it is quite a long shot, but why not see if Lastminutetravel.com (club)can get you into the Marriot Suites for their rate of $67/nite. It's listed as "on request", so they would have to negotiate with the hotel to see if they can still get that rate. Like I said, it's quite a long shot, but what do you have to lose. They also have the Candlewood Suites for $68/nite, listed as available. Good luck.
  6. Yeah, it's a holiday thing....Christmas cookies and all that jazz.
  7. Bid as high as $239 for the two nites on PRICELINE, but no luck. Got an Omni promo code this morning for 15% off for two nights til end of the year. Rate with promo code is $234/nite, cancelable. So, unless I see the Omni price come down will probably keep it. Will keep looking.
  8. Noticed that Orbitz had the Omni with their promo code "byebye20" for around $224/nite. Checked Priceline Express Deals and they had 4.5* in FD/Embarcadero, rated 9.0+, so went a bidding. Started at $199, then $209, then $215...got accepted. Previously had booked Omni directly for $285/nite. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks.
  9. Attempting to bid for 4* Financial District/Embarcadero for above dates. Have bid to $219 with no luck so far. Cheapest rate is for the Hyatt at $259/nite and Hilton at $299. Will probably get the Hyatt on LMT for $241/nite as cancelable reservation and continue bidding. Used PRICELINE link on this site. Edited to add: Not sure what happened to the LMT deal, but rate jumped to $717/nite. Just booked direct with Hyatt at $259/nite...cancelable 24 hours before. Will keep checking and bidding.
  10. Noticed the night of the 13th is the cheaper of the two nights...$195/nite, so just trying to bid for that one night and use my free night for the 12th. Bid up to $129 and no dice. Will just keep plugging away for now.
  11. Seen that already. Would rather get the Hyatt or Le Meridien if I can't get the Omni. Will keep looking, and if worse comes to worse, have a free Omni night to use. Thanks
  12. Looking to book the Omni for December, and NYOP has a 4.5 with 9.0 rating. So far have bid up to $205, and no bites. Cheapest on Omni website is $275. May have to stick with 4*.
  13. If it were me, and I would have to pay for parking anyway, I would just book the James via Lastminutetravel.com Club for $117/nite, and available. They offer choice of number of beds, and reservations are cancelable up to 3 days before checkin. Then you can see how bidding goes for others, and if you see an accepted bid by someone else, you can jump on it. Good luck.
  14. It's really just a crap shoot. I have gotten a booking that was "on request" once or twice. Think positive thoughts, and come back and let the board know. Good luck.
  15. Lastminutetravel.com Club has the Marriott Copley Place for $142/nite, although "on request", which means you can try to book it and they will see if the hotel will honor that price. Cancelable up to three days before checkin. "Available" they have the Revere Hotel Boston Common, for $185/nite, also cancelable up to three days before checkin. Being cancelable means you can continue bidding on Priceline to hopefully get a better deal. If you are not a Club member, just call their toll free number, and they will give you the Club price. Good luck.
  16. Just book the Westin for $157/nite....cancelable up to 3 days before checkin, or the Renaissance for $153/nite...cancelable up to 1 day before check in at Lastminutetravel.com Club. If you don't have Club access, just call them and ask for either of those hotels. Then you can keep bidding at lower rates on PRICELINE to hopefully get a better deal.
  17. Started off at $109 and worked up to $139. Used the PRICELINE link on this site. Thanks
  18. Fewer people...homeless, tourists...just a slightly quieter area with great hotels. We prefer the Omni, though the others are quite fine also. Plenty of good restaurants in the area, and easy access to public transportation.
  19. Though most people usually want to stay in the Union Square area, we prefer the Financial District/Embarcadero.
  20. Why not just book the Solamar on Lastminutetravel.com for $154/nite (Club price)...if you're not a club member, just call for that rate. Cancellable up to 3 days prior to checkin. 2 adults/2 children.
  21. Originally had the weekend after this one booked with Omni directly at $195/nite. Changed our dates and found this Express Deal. Amenities: pets, business center, restaurant, fitness center. Used PRICELINE link on this site.
