Hotel is located in the outskirts of Rancho Mirage away from all the residental and commercial areas. This hotel is ideally suited for golfers and families with younger kids. The rooms for the resort are two stories high and are situated along a golf course. Received a standard non-smoking room with a king bed. Room was very large and included a sitting area with a sofa bed, table and chair that easily could sleep two kids. Bathroom was also very large with marble counters, bath robes, hair blower, vanity light/mirror, with a seperate bath/shower area. Westin is known for their comfortable beds and indeed it was. Our room was located on the first floor which could be a problem if you have a noisy neighbor above. During the day, the upstairs noise was quite noticible but never turned into a problem for us. Might want to request an upstairs room. There are several pools on the grounds. The main pool near the lobby is nice size with lounges closely packed together. Need to arrive early if you want to sit pool side or need a shaded umbrella. Pool activities include water slide, water basketball and water volleyball. Good pool service but can get crowded. There is an adult only pool for those wanting a more peaceful atmosphere. Overall we were very pleased with the hotel. Although located towards the outskirts of town, the drive to restaurants and shopping was easy to get to and not a problem. If you like to gamble, the Aqua Caliente Casino is located just down the road and provides a different option for entertainment and restaurants, including gambling. There is a $13 resort fee which included parking, daily paper, coffee and use of tennis courts. I hear this is pretty common at palm springs resorts. I still prefer to stay closer to down town palm springs, but would not hesitate to stay at the Westin Mission Hills resort if the price was right.
