  1. add this hotel to the Texas Hotels list: LaSalle Hotel by Magnolia, Bryan, TX, 85% recommended, 3.5 stars, amenities: Non-smoking, complimentary breakfast, and internet.
  2. I was delighted when I saw the price, and even more delighted with the hotel. Red Lion, 3* hotel with restaurant, business center, and pool.
  3. This is a new hotel to add to our list. Started bidding at $60 and got an offer to raise by $17. I rejected and gradually worked my way to $70 before being accepted at the 3* Courtyard by Marriott Downtown San Antonio. Used the PRICELINE bidding link at the top of the page.
  4. My bad...I thought I had done that, but doing a search, I realize I have not. My original win was for San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf, 2.5 star Holiday Inn Express (now upgraded to 3*), for $134 per night, made back in April for July 18-22). Please feel free to move or remove this post.
  5. Just got back from San Francisco and wanted to report a problem we had with Hotwire this weekend, as well as possible solutions. The situation: I took a small group from our church to San Francisco. I booked six rooms for 24 people through Hotwire (4 people per room) way back in April. When we got there, the hotel desk clerk told us that all our rooms were king rooms. On top of that, he said that people who use Hotwire or Priceline are only guaranteed a standard room, and that rooms are not guaranteed for 4. I showed him my reservation confirmation from Hotwire. The next thing he said was "A king bed does sleep four." I said, "maybe four kids, not four adults." I asked to speak with the manager, and then I got on the line with Hotwire. I spoke to a Hotwire representative who was very apologetic and offered his help. The possible solution: The Hotwire rep put me on hold and called the hotel and talked with the manager. Hotwire realized the mistake and wanted to make it right. They gave me the option of moving hotels if I could find one; using rollaways; or getting additional king rooms to sleep the additional people in my group. (They "say" they will reimburse me for it...we'll see). So, we did a combination of the above. Some of my folks took an additional room. Some brought in a rollaway, some had kids sleep with them in the king bed. The reason we didn't move hotels is that we didn't want to find one, and we wanted the group to stay together. Plus we liked the continental breakfast offered by the Holiday Inn Express. More problems: My group was booked for four nights and the Holiday Inn Express manager said he could only give me the extra King rooms for two nights. (That's why we did the combination solution as described above.) Hotwire paid for the extra rooms for the first two nights. On the third day, I checked back with the front desk. I was able to keep the King rooms, but I had to pay for it at regular rack rate ($250 a night per room). The manager said the reason Hotwire didn't pay for the last two nights was because the nights weren't guaranteed for availability originally. So, now I have to send Hotwire my hotel bill, plus the invoice from my credit card when it comes in, plus evidence to show I paid for the extra rooms. Supposedly, when I do all this, Hotwire will reimburse me for my extra expense. So it will be at least a month or so before this is all resolved. My questions: I feel my folks were very gracious to accept the king rooms and make do. Some kids slept on floors, some with parents. But the reality is, we PAID in advance for rooms that slept four on beds, and Hotwire guarantees those beds. While Hotwire was very apologetic and worked to help me find a solution, I think I am due some sort of reimbursement. Do you agree with me? What would you do in this situation? I'd love to hear some of your thoughts! I'll keep you posted on how this all resolves!
  6. I bid up to $120 with no luck for resorts at Ft. Lauderdale and Hollywood Beach. So I changed to 4* (Ft. Lauderdale Beach only, not Hollywood) beginning at $75, then $80. Finally was accepted at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66 at $85. Total price with taxes and fees is not quite $200 for the two nights. I checked on Expedia and their best price was $250 with the taxes so I saved a little money by using priceline. Now I'm hoping I'll get a good room! I used PRICELINE the link on this site for my bidding.
  7. FYI: I've been watching the San Francisco Fisherman's Wharf area for a few weeks, seeing if prices on Hotwire will come down for a trip in July. Typically, a 2.5 star hotel comes up in the Fisherman's Wharf area offering continental breakfast, fitness center, business center and wireless internet. Others have identified this hotel as the Holiday Inn Express, Fisherman's Wharf. Recently (last couple of days), a 3* hotel comes up offering these exact ammenities, but no 2.5 *. This is either a new hotel, or I'm guessing that they upgraded the Holiday Inn Express to 3*. Someone else may want to do some research on this and see if they get the see what I'm seeing.
  8. 3 free rebids in this Nashville zone for a 2.5* hotel in Hendersonville. Struck out at $35, $40, $45. Got it at $47. As far as I can tell, there are only two major hotels in Hendersonville...the Hyatt Place (which I believe was formerly a Amerisuites), and the 2* Holiday Inn Express. My best guess is that Hotwire had these two hotels for $76 and $96. I used PRICELINE to beat HOTWIRE. The rate on their website was $139 a night.
  9. This is a new hotel, I believe, to add to our list of possibilities. The hotel website says it is a new facility. I used the Savings Barn link to PRICELINE for my bid. I started at $38 and worked my way up over the last couple of days. Accepted at $46.
  10. I've been trying since November to get this area, even bidding up to $90 on other occasions with no luck. Today, I was accepted on my first bid of $75 (making me wonder whether I overbid). This is a lovely resort we've stayed at before and glad to get it again! The hotel website has this property listed for $109 a night.
  11. Started bidding at $45. Got a response saying add $17. I re-bid using free zones and picked up the DoubleTree at Universal for $55 a night. Website says there is no availability for this time period. So I guess only priceline had inventory.
  12. Bid for one night in downtown and received the Seattle Renaissance. Total with taxes and fees is about $85.
  13. Just got back from a one night stay, May 29, 2006. This property is undergoing renovation and they look like they are just about done. (They were painting the exterior of the entire facility). Everything was great! We got a one room non-smoking suite which has a queen bed, kitchenette, sitting area, and restroom. The room looked almost brand new, including brand new carpet and granite countertops. (I could tell the cabinets in the kitchen had been "re-worked," which is the only reason it wasn't "brand new.") This property has a swimming pool, a basketball court, and work out room. Complimentary breakfast each morning (including scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, assorted suite rolls, assorted cereals, make your own belgian waffles, bagels, and much more) and evening "light dinner" are included. The main lobby and breakfast room looked brand new. In the room was a iron and ironing board, microwave (with free popcorn), coffee pot, hair dryer, and free internet access (with your own computer). They had a business center with free internet in the main lobby. I can't say enough nice things about this property! It's exactly four miles from the OKC airport straight up (north) Meridian to Reno and turn right. There are nearby restaurants and very easy access to I-40. Not more than 5 minutes from downtown OKC by car. If you can get a good deal via priceline on this hotel, you'll be really happy!
  14. Bid this back in February but forgot to report it. It was a fantastic hotel, seemed almost new. Had a great complimentary breakfast bar in the mornings, cookies and fruit in the evenings, an indoor pool, and a small workout room. About 1-2 miles south is a shopping center with a grocery story, pizza place, Wendy's, gas stations and more. It is very convenient to the airport.
  15. Yes, the address is 4361 W Reno, about 4 miles from the airport. The Priceline Hotel Name simply says "Residence Inn Oklahoma City (no "west" in the title), however, on the Marriott website, it does call it the Residence Inn Oklahoma City West.
  16. Got it on first bid...guess I should have tried lower. Oh well, still a pretty good deal.
  17. It was for Thursday, May 26, 2005. We just completed our stay. While the property is a bit older, it seemed to us like it was in good condition. It's very convenient to New Braunfels, in case someone wanted to stay there in order to go to Schlitterbahn.
  18. Began bidding at $40 for New Braunfels area; added San Marcos and Seguin and got this hotel. Hope this info helps someone else. With taxes and priceline fee it's $60.76.
  19. New to this forum but not to Priceline & Hotwire. I began bidding at $65 for 4* and was rejected. Added a free re-bid zone and got the Chicago Hilton for $70. Looks like a great hotel and we're excited. Hotwire had a 4* for $87 that I was trying to beat. (I thought it looked like the Palmer House Hilton). Very happy to save even more $$$ with Priceline.
