I am sure many have looked up prices on hotwire to guage what a Priceline successful bid might be...can anyone suggest what percentage to use?

i.e. Bid 20% less on Priceline for something you wanted on Hotwire?

Is 20% good - more? less?

Thanks!

There is no rule of thumb... in some areas 20% may be too much of a discount to expect, in other areas it may be an overbid.

Why not post the details of your trip (zone, desired star rating, minimum star level, maximum bid, dates, etc) and we can suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Thanks - details of the trip...

Fri Mar 21 (GOOD FRIDAY) we would pick up the car either in Orlando FL or Tampa FL.
Fri Mar 28 we would drop off the car in either Orlando FL or Tampa FL.

We are not sure yet which airport we are flying into.

Thanks for all of your help.

I already have a place to stay booked. I just want a rental vehicle - a minivan to be precise in the Orlando Airport or Tampa Airport. Thank you.

Post back once you're plans are firm and know which airport you'll need to be renting from.

For rental cars I have found that it is best to reserve a vehicle through a conventional site now. Keep checking for a better deal and cancel/reserv again as necessary.

Then within approx 1 week of your dates, strat bidding on priceline trying to beat the best price that you have reserved.
