This hotel is in a dilapidated state. I paid $70 for the night of 17 Feb 2007. The design of the rooms are out dated. The staff don't care about the customers (although the door man was very helpful). I had requested the lady at the front counter to get me a room on one of the top floors and she said that they could only give a room on the 6th floor (The hotel has more than 20 floors). I am pretty sure they did this to me because I was a priceline customer. Right at the time you walk into the lobby you can sense the emptiness. I hardly saw any customers around the lobby or in the restaurant. Don't go to the restaurant; it's expensive and the food is horrible. The bed in the room was hard as rock with only two pillows (A 4* hotel room usually has 4-6 pillows). The comforter was repulsive. I didn't check their business centre. The location of the hotel is also not good (you have to walk 2-3 block to get to the nearest subway station). No way this hotel can be classified as more than 3*. Be careful when booking hotels on priceline: you may get stuck with this hotel!! My experience was made worse because I had stayed at the Marriott Bloor Yorkville the day before. The Mariott is so much better and it's a 3.5* hotel. Avoid this hotel like the plague!

I wrote priceline about my bad experience at the hotel and got this response (I didn't expect such a disinterested reply). It's such an irony that their "renovated rooms" are the ones I think are outdated. I wonder what's their definition of "renovated".

Stayed here for a 3 night stay in mid-October. I wasn't pleased after reading the first review of the hotel, and seeing the Tripadvisor ratings, as there seems to be a dim view of Sutton Place. I wasn't overwhelmed by Sutton Place, but I was not offended by anything either. I had a decent sized room with everything you needed, including a 40 inch plasma TV. If there is anything to be disappointed about, it would be the $16.50 charge for the internet on a daily basis.

It is true that this hotel is far away from the true downtown area of Toronto - where the entertainment and financial districts are. It isn't an onerous cab ride to get there (you could do it for less than $15), but there are decent public transportation options. The 6 bus goes right down Bay Street, and the Wellesley subway stop is a couple of blocks away. There are decent dining options all over the hotel, especially if you are looking for inexpensive and good food on Yonge Street.

Proud to be Canadian!
