Is there any way to not get upgraded?

I have a friend who keeps getting upgraded to the Sheraton Uptown
in Albuquerque when bids for 2 and 1/2 star.

No, you can not prevent getting upgraded. If there is a hotel you (or your friend) is trying to avoid then they should consider using HOTWIRE.

Please tell your friend to visit the board and share their wins wink.gif

Why would you want to avoid being upgraded? I would consider being upgraded a major plus seeing how you didn't pay extra for it. Bigger room, higher floor, better location, are usually the pluses of being upgraded. Especially since you would likely not be located two floors above the dumpster.

If you read the first post of this topic, the discussion is not about being upgraded within the hotel... but rather upgraded from a lower star quality hotel to a higher star quality hotel (by Priceline) such as bidding 2.5* and receiving a 3*.

Some would prefer the 2.5* property as they often offer free internet access, parking, breakfast, etc. which many higher rated hotels don't offer.
