This is a very large hotel with two towers and over 1,000 rooms. The South Tower is older, but the rooms are bigger and may be quieter. We were there for four nights. The first two nights we were in a South Tower room, which was quite large, but did not have a great view and looked a bit dated in some ways. Since the hotel was sold out for these two nights, we were happy with this room especially since it was so quiet. On the following morning, I asked if it might be possible to move to a room with a view and they offered us a North Tower room on the 18th floor. This room had a lovely river/city view and newer furnishings and fixtures, but it had a connecting door (always a dreaded sight) and was right across from the service elevator. It was much noisier than the first room and definitely smaller.

The location is great, though. You can walk to a lot of places and the trolley tours have a stop right in front of the hotel. The common areas of the hotel are very nice and they had some incredible flower arrangements in the lobby while we were there.

We got to know the staff in the lobby lounge and they were terrific. We didn't use room service or eat in the restaurant.

Overall, a nice property with adequate rooms in a great location.

Stayed here 3/10/05. The hotel was very accomodating as we had two rooms and were looking for connecting or adjoining rooms - we forgot to ask for double beds in each room (there were 4 of us) and when we called down to the front desk they had us in two rooms (adjoining) with our two beds within 15 minutes!! The beds were VERY comfortable, and the shower pressure fantastic. My only complaint would be the flushing of the toilets - VERY LOUD!! We were on the 16th floor with a great view of the city and again the location of the hotel is perfect. No problem for me if I ended up with this hotel on a future bid!

We made a reservation for 2 adults and 2 children via Hotwire and were giving a mini-suite without even asking for a suite. The mini-suite was great, especially for a family. It was a true suite, with 2 separate rooms. The bedroom had 2 double beds, a large night stand between the beds, a chair and dresser. The living room had a couch (not sure if it was a pull out bed), chair, endtable, dresser, and desk. The bathroom was directly accessible from both rooms. This arrangement meant that we could get up, shower and dress without waking up our kids.

The room was quite clean, though the rug could have used a shampooing. The bed linen were good, but the bathroom linen were a bit rough. The only oddity/complaint was that the shower head was mounted very low. Perfect for children and small adults, but a medium to tall adult would have to crouch.

Stayed here 10/21-10/23/09. Had a smallish renovated room on the 11th floor north tower overlooking the Charles. Our check-in request for a room with a view of the Charles was cheerfully granted. The room was nicely furnished and perfectly clean. Flat screen TVs, but not HD. Math teachers convention next door may be the reason that getting on the free lobby computer terminals was slow. Plenty of food options at all price levels in the adjacent mall. We liked the Old Town Trolley tours and used it as transport one day, then on foot for the next. At the price we paid, would stay there again in a second.

We stayed here March 25-29, 2010 on a rather high Hotwire rate of $149. Before we left, I called the property to request two beds. When we arrived, they didn't have any doubles available, so upgraded us to a junior suite. Corner room with lots of windows, overlooking Boston Public Library and Copley Place -- score!

There was nothing particularly remarkable about the room itself, other than the extra space and the view. It was a basic Westin. We had two occasions to contact housekeeping. The first time, we had to call as there were no linens for the hideaway bed. The next day, some joker hung a "Do Not Disturb" sign on our door so of course our room wasn't serviced. Both times, the staff was extremely professional and prompt at getting the required items up to us.

The hotel itself didn't have much character. What it had going for it was a fabulous location. It's steps away from Copley Square and the Library, and connected by walkways to the Prudential Centre, Convention Center, Marriott, and other assorted goodies. And it's close to a Filene's Basement. What more do you want? Au Bon Pain, food courts, Shaw's, California Pizza Kitchen, and lots of other places are a very short walk away.

We took the Blue line from the airport, and transferred to the Orange line and got out at the Back Bay stop. A better plan of attack would be Blue Line to Green Line, and get off at Copley. The Green line is right by the Library, and stops at all the major business and touristy stations. It was our first trip to Boston and we did a lot of sightseeing, and thought the location was fantastic.

I'd stay here again.

I stayed in September 2010, at a Priceline rate of $150. More expensive than others I've seen reported here, but much cheaper than the "meeting" rate I was offered for my convention. Agree that it is a basic Westin. I had a corner room on the 15th floor, south tower, with a nice view. Room was renovated and comfortable with better than usual coffee maker and good towels. Free internet access in the lobby was very slow and often not functional at all. I was happy with this hotel.
