Hotwire Hotel: 4* New York (MTE) W Hotel New York

Welcome to BetterBidding!

It's the W New York on Lexington. REVIEWS are very mixed and i think for the summertime you can probably do better.

What is the purpose of the trip, what area do you need to be in, what type of hotels do you like (center of it all or on the fringe but convenient, etc), what is your budget?

Thanks for the reply. The price is 130 to 150 but can be more flexible if something is worth it. We would like to be near a subway but don't mind fringe, would prefer to stay out of Times Square and midtown central area. Pleasure trip. Would like ecclectic. Would enjoy a neighborhood scene but none of this is written in stone. Have been to NYC several times and like to make a venture to mecca every year or so.

One more question since you're so flexible on location and price seems to be most important... i think you can get a 3* hotel (likely the Hyatt) in Jersey City for significantly less than staying in NYC. There is a PATH train right at the door which will have you to Downtown Manhattan in an 8 minute ride and midtown in about 17 minutes.

The hotel rooms have a view of Manhattan, the REVIEWS from board members has been great, and there are quite a few pictures at our sister site RealHotelPhotos.com.

Let us know if this is an option for you and we'll advise on how to move forward with whatever you prefer.

We'll go up to $160 since (as far as i know) that is the best price you can otherwise get for a 4* hotel (ie- the hotel we saw earlier on Hotwire). A closer look at these dates shows that it may be tough to beat as it seems the cheaper rates are starting after July 4th/mid-July.

I also added MTS to the mix although not specifically mentioned above... if that's a problem don't proceed and let us know.

I am now a speedster at navigating the priceline website, but didn't get a four star hotel for those dates-- after all of that!!! Interesting plan, however. What now? Thanks for your prompt replies and all of that work on such a lengthy plan of attack.

You have a few choices at this point:

1) wait and bid again in 72 hours

-if you do this i would book a back-up, i'd recommend the Eastgate Tower thru QUIKBOOK for $169/nite... cancellable and i think it fits your needs/location pretty good; reviews are good too

2) SPLIT YOUR BID

3) take the Hotwire offer

I was leaning towards the first choice but couldn't find a suitable back-up until i just found the QUICKBOOK offer referenced above (please use our link to book)

I think I am going with Hotel W. I like the location and since I can't get a 4 * for under 160$ I might as well go with that, it is now 152$ on Hotwire. The Eastgate Tower is too far from the subway and I don't like the location as much, althought it sounds like a much better hotel. Thanks for all of your help and I have enjoyed your NYC tips also.
