its been a while since i use the site so here goes.

i have tried using PRICELINE for the dates i mentioned but for some reason, the typical hotel candidates like sydney marriot are definitely not accepting prices of USD100 to USD120. would appreciate any help.

Rates are date specific and rates appear to be somewhat higher than usual for these nites.

As well, the one 'known' 4* hotel in this zone is not showing any availability for the first nite of your stay, April 3rd. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

What is the best rate you're able to find at an acceptable hotel for these nites?

so if i don't include 3 april, i might be more successful? as the two properties that normally come up are not accepting bids up to usd120.

It's possible... some hotels (although not so much in the current economy) don't accept Saturday check-in, so that could be an explanation as well; although in this specific example the 4* hotel i has previously checked rates for wasn't showing any availability for the nite of 4/3.

In re-reading your first post, note that both Marriott properties in this zone are (as of last report) rated 5*... not 4*.
