Hello all,
I am new to the forum and have already discovered the great tips you guys provide. Let me tell you, what a great resource. So my deal is I am really looking to land El San Juan for an upcoming trip 3/23 to 3/27. I was hoping for some bidding strategies to get a better chance on this hotel. My one confusion with Priceline was if I bid a higher amount does that make it a better chance to get the higher priced resort? Or basically which price point should I aim for this resort to increase my chances? I appreciate any input.
Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!
Glad you're finding the information here helpful
Bidding higher does not ensure you a 'better' hotel, as you may simply end up overbidding for a hotel you could have received for less. See this thread for more details: Don't Bid Higher for a Specific Hotel
I'm guessing your could land a Resort property for ~$90-$120... but if you let us know your maximum bid we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.
Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
PS- note, we don't see the El San Juan too often, so i wouldn't count on that as your likely outcome

Ahhh thanks for the link! That answers my question exactly. And yea I did notice El San Juan isn't won too often, was just trying to see if just maybe I could increase my chances of doing so. I think I would really be happy with any of the resorts in San Juan if I get a great deal. With that in mind about $120 would be maximum bid, as I can already try the $122 4* already from HOTWIRE. I figure why not shoot for a better deal. So what would be a good strategy?

At the Resort class you have SIX re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.
(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)
Select Resort San Juan...
Bid $80, if rejected add re-bid zone1...
Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone2...
Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone3...
Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone4...
Bid $100, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINE
Select Resort San Juan and re-bid zone5...
Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone1...
Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone2...
Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone3...
Bid $120
Any questions feel free to ask.
Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Cool thanks for the replies! I finally get the rebidding. One more question I have. Even though priceline may only show a single 4* hotel in a zone for instance that doesn't necessarily mean you will be bidding only on that hotel right? It will also include the "resorts" I assume. Also would they include any other "secret" hotels maybe not listed as 4*? For instance La Concha is the only 4* I see listed in San Juan. If I bid 4* it will only add La Concha to the already targeted resorts I'm aiming for correct? I would be nice to get La Concha too, but I know that isn't won often either lol. Just want to be sure I include it in the possible hotels but not any others I may be unaware of. Thanks for all your help.
