I see on Priceline they give you an option to purchase trip cancellation/interruption insuarnce for $5 per room per night. Is this a way out if you don't like the hotel you are assigned?

No, the insurance does not cover cancelling your purchase if you don't like the hotel. It only covers certain conditions... mostly related to sickness, travel interuption due to weather, etc.

here is a link to the Priceline Trip Insurance. The physician must fill out a claim form for you to be reimbursed.
