Tried Soma up to $90.00-no luck; USE to $85.00-no luck; finally USW began at $65.00; one free rebid to $70.00, for the Parc 55 which, after doing my homework, I assumed I was going to get.
Sorry guys, but I still believe, after all my bids, wins and losses, that it is a possibility you can bid higher for a better hotel. Regards, Donna |

Sorry guys, but I still believe, after all my bids, wins and losses, that it is a possibility you can bid higher for a better hotel. I don't dispute this, but you could just as easily receive a hotel you were trying to avoid, and end up overpaying for it, which just compounds the disappointement... so it's a risk often not worth taking. In your example above, if your first bid in the USW zone was $90, do you think you would have recieved a 'better' hotel than the Parc 55... or is there a good chance you would have received the Parc 55 anyway (and overpaid by $25?) -------------------- Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

In your example above, if your first bid in the USW zone was $90, do you think you would have recieved a 'better' hotel than the Parc 55... or is there a good chance you would have received the Parc 55 anyway (and overpaid by $25?) Lowball bidders in USW-Nob Hill almost always get Hilton, Parc55, or Nikko. Rarely the Mark Hopkins or Stanford Court, which seem to have higher Priceline rates. Bidding $90 doesn't guarantee you'll win the Hopkins or Stanford. But bidding $70 guarantees you WON'T win them. Some people will pay a premium for access to the chance of winning the higher rated or more desired hotel. Even if you end up at the Hilton for $90 when you could have had it for $70 it's still a good deal at $90 compared to rack rate, usually. |
