Not to add to anyone's workflow, but would it be possible to have a PRICELINE nationwide best of the best results thread within the last 365 days, e.g.,:

all 4* for less than $40 bid
all 3.5* for less than $35 bid
all 3* for less than $30 bid
all 2.5* for less than $25 bid, etc.
(assuming these requirements are reasonably, & not too, restrictive)

it might help many more quickly design an itinerary to where the best deals tend to currently be...?
it would more quickly reveal which cities currently tend to offer best of best savings...?

Is there a way to easily search all US results to call up:

all 4* successful bids of $40 or less
all 3.5* successful bids of $35 or less, etc.?

Although i think the above is too general for the majority of users, we have some changes/enhancements that are currently being worked on which may make some of the above possible... we'll continue the current projects and then see if anything is missing from the above and will adapt as needed.

In the past there's been speculation that $40 was the minimum Priceline would accept for Resort or 4*, even if the hotel loads a lower rate than $40.

Has anyone recently noticed any 4* bids under $40 getting accepted?

You may want to research winning bids in both the Phoenix/Scottsdale, AZ areas as well as Palm Springs, CA. These two areas have a lot of resort category properties that often go very inexpensively. We used to see rock bottom rates in these areas during the summer (off-peak season), however given the current economy, they are more year round at the moment.

Although more than 365 days ago, 3* bids of $25 were being upgraded to the Resort category La Quinta Resort in the Palm Springs area. At first, people were bidding 4* $40 and getting assigned to the La Quinta resort. And then someone tried bidding 3* $25 with the same results (including yours truly).
