I just booked a room thru Priceline and then I entered the hotel website. Then I realized that the hotel permits Maximum of 4 persons in one room and we are 5. Usually when we book with Expedia we ask for another bed... and it works

What will you recommend me to do?

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel.

I would call the hotel to see what type of room you've been assinged and if a room with only one bed i would put in a request for a room with two beds, and also ask if they have rollaways and if that room can accomodate a rollaway (if they mention the occupancy you can tell them that your two kids argue a lot and may not want to sleep in the same bed)

Their answers to the above, and reception for accomodating your request for a room with two beds, will shed some light on whether an easy or difficult situations lies ahead.

Thank you for the advice. I called them and they said they can put the extra bed (rollaway) and charge me $12 for a night.
I didn't say we are going to be 5 people, I hope it will be fine.

I, on the other hand, booked 4 rooms 3 nights for 7 people through Priceline. However one of the nights we'll have 9. The hotel allows and advertises triple occupancy.

I contacted the hotel (Moevenpick Amsterdam) with this message:
Good Morning, I have 4 rooms reserved for June 13 through June 16. For the night of June 13th only, our family will have an extra person, or 9 persons total. Is a sofabed available in one of the 4 rooms to accomodate the one extra person for one night? Thank you

I received this reply:
Unfortunately I can’t change the reservation.
It is possible to accommodate three people in one room.
Please contact the contact person where you booked the rooms and they can change it for you.

Since Priceline's terms are for double occupancy, it appears I'm out of luck and will have to book an additional room.

Any other suggestions?

Since the rooms can accomodate triple occupancy, and you only need one room out of four to accodate an additional person, i would probably take the chance and risk it. See how the rooms are configured upon check-in and then ask for a rollaway if needed (and at least be prepared to pay additional for the follaway one nite) No guarantees everything will go smoothly, but that's what i would do, and either be prepared to 'encourage' (read: nice tip) the bellman who can probably get things done if need be, or as last resort book another room last minite from the hotel via PRICELINE.

Also, if you can find a refundable room nearby that is cancellable on the day of arrival without penalty, that could serve as a 'fallback' plan. (just make sure you know what time you need to cancel it by and make sure your arrangements are in place by then)
