My wedding is coming up in July, and we're going to need 20 or so rooms, preferably in the same hotel, for out-of-town guests.

Is there any way to use PL/HW, or do I just have to stump up rack rate and take out a bank loan?

I see no function on HOTWIRE to allow more than 6 rooms to be booked, however, PRICELINE does have a different way of dealing with name-your-price requests for more than 10 rooms.

If you access name-your-price like you normally would and choose 10+ rooms, it brings you to a different page which in effect turns the bidding around where the hotels will vie for your business.

You fill out the form with all the critical information, i.e. dates of stay, # of rooms, type of room, price you are willing to pay, etc. and then hotels will contact you directly if they like the terms of your offer. This is a free service and you do not need a credit card, nor is there any obligation to book. I would assume that there could be a little bit of negotiating involved as well to determine the best price although I'm not entire sure.

I haven't read of anyone doing this yet, but it sounds like it could be very beneficial in saving you some cash. Now, I would normally assume that if you did end up choosing to book with a hotel that the same non-refundable/cancellable conditions would still exist.

Let us know how it works out.
