I'll be in New Orleans (after I get a room and assuming airfare doesn't go up before booking) wed June 18 - tues June 24.

Was looking at 2* on hotel sites, but found I might be able to get a 3 or 4* for same price. 1 person, me, and not very picky. 2 of the 3 look like real good locations,m other one is a bit of a walk but ok.

3* looks good enough, I've never done this before. Should I start out at ....$50 ??

Welcome to BetterBidding!

To begin, make sure you read the comments at the top of the Priceline Hotel List... the hotels listed should not be considered finite and you could receive a hotel not yet reported to the board (or a hotel at a different star rating then previously reported)

Let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow.

At the 4* level you have five re-bid zones available. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.

Select 4* Downtown...

Bid $40, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $50, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $54, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $57, if rejected add re-bid zone...

Bid $60.

I stopped at $61 above as HOTWIRE, which uses slightly different zone boundaries and names, is currently offering 4 star hotels $62 and $63 for similar zones, do if the above is rejected we'll then try to identify those hotels to see if they're "4 star equialents" and if they would work for your needs.

Any questionsl free free to ask.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

added Airport(there are no 4* there), bid $45 - rejected

added French Quarter (there are 4*, and allegedly cheaper, but it would have been ok) - bid $50 - rejected.

added west bank (there are no 4*) - bid $55 - accepted!

fyi- there will be a dataport and security box charge of $5-$10/night also, almost all decent hotels in NO seem to do this...

Wow, thanks, that process is kinda nerve-wracking. I'll be back!

Congratulations on your win!

Glad to see you were successful and that we were able to help. Nice to see that you were able to upgrade your accomodations (substantially!!) over the 2* you were considered... for just $5 more per nite! :)

The bidding process becomes a little ness nerve-wracking as you get more accustomed to it, but as you can see, the savings are well worth any temporary knotts in your stomach!

Thanks for sharing your win with the board.
