Hard to say why this happened, and i'm somewhat intrigued by it too.

It is possible that Priceline is willing to work at their room cost (+$5.95 fee) for stays 3 days and under, but requires a bid above their cost for stays of 4 days and more.

As i would think that a small proportion of Priceline stays are greater than 3 nites, this may be a hard theory to prove. I'll try to do some research and check out 'longer stays' and see if they were given at cost or not.

As well, could just be some sort of glitch in their system, as there have been other 'quirks' reported.

I've made many bookings on PL of up to 21 nights, all at cost. So if PL is doing what you said, it must be a new thing.

Consider also that I did try overbidding by $4 for the entire term, before resorting to making two bids.
