Pardon if this is a dumb question, but I'm assuming the days around New Year's are generally days when hotels are likely to be full. Is this correct?
I was actually surprised a couple of years ago to find that Thanksgiving weekend is an EXCELLENT time to get distressed inventory and bid on Priceline. I'm assuming this is NOT the case for the days around New Year's.
Is this correct?
It would affect my decision on whether it's worth my time to even pursue.
I usually bid on 3* hotels in metro areas and normally get them for between $40-$50 on Priceline thanks to skills I've learned on this website.

Each market has it's own supply/demand characteristics so it really depends upon where you're looking.
Large metropolitan cities will likely be tough, small/medium cities which cater to a more business clientele may be somewhat easier, and office parks should be relatively easy. But again, these are general statements and it's really city/zone specific.
