When posting a hotel that you received, please try to use the following format:

HOTWIRE:
Topic Title: Star Rating, City (sub-region if appropriate), Hotel Name
Topic Description: Dates of Stay and Price Paid per night
Post: list ALL amenities Hotwire represents, date hotel was booked if different than posting date, any other pertinent info

**BEFORE** you purchase a hotel thru Hotwire, write down the amenities shown as this will help identify the hotel for future users, and this info is not available after you purchase. This is the most important information that will be used down the road in attempting to figure out hotels before they are revealed.

PRICELINE:
Topic Title: Star Rating, City (and sub-region if appropriate), Hotel Name
Topic Description: Dates of Stay and Price Paid per night
Post: bid history (if first bidding attempt was rejected), taxes paid from the Priceline accepted bid page, date hotel was booked if different than posting date, any other pertinent info

Of course, while we are building the database, you are encouraged to post prior bookings (don't you wish you had this information when you booked?). If you don't have all the information mentioned above, provide whatever information you do have avialable. The more hotel reports we have, the more beneficial this forum will be for everyone.

If you are not registered yet, you can do so by CLICKING HERE

Following these guidelines will keep the Message Board uniform and as useful as possible.

Although not a requirement for using this site, it is very much appreciated if you use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links at the top of the page to place your bids, purchases, and searches. THANKS!!

Do you want us to post past bookings? If so, date booked would be useful as well.

Nevermind, I didn't read carefully.

Next question, would you like me to post past bookings, though I never noted the specific ammenities?

I, personally, don't pay much attention to them. I trust the star ratings (and usually stick to 4 or more stars), more or less, and don't care whether there's a pool, exercise facilities, on-sight restaurant, 24-hour room service, etc.

Donna,

Thanks for the suggestion, i have taken your advice and modified the above post accordingly. In addition to Hotwire, i have decided to include Priceline hotels as well, so have edited to account for that too.

Thanks again for the suggestion, it's with user input such as yours that this board will turn into something great!

Yes, please post any past bookings, adding whatever info you have available.

thesqueegeekid has used a number of different formats in posts on the Canada section, which makes it easy to have a look at how slight variations on your suggestion above looks.

Personally, I think the most important aspests are the star rating+location and the price. The posts that have star rating+location+name as title and price+dates as description are best. You can run your eye down the leftmost edge of the topics and see star ratings and prices at a glance, which works best to me. Having to scan across left to right to find price takes a lot longer.

What do you think?

I always look for the taxes, too, so I can find out if the price paid is the actual Priceline price or if I might be able to bid slightly lower.

Any bid history of rejected bids can also be very helpful.

The guidelines for posting winning bids are very good.

I think copying and pasting the key info from the acceptance page of PL wins is helpful and avoids errors with which zone a hotel is in, dates of stay, etc.

Makes for quicker access to needed info. like taxes, the hotel's website, etc.

Hi,

The instructions say that with Hotwire bids, you can't see your
amenities if you come back after you reserve.

But this isn't true. You can go back to your Hotel intinerary
later, and click on "View Hotel's Amenities", and it shows them.

I stayed at a Hotwire hotel on Feb. 6-8; today is the 9th, and
I just did the above, and it worked.

It says here to list Priceline details with "Dates of Stay and Price Paid per night", but I'm getting the feeling that it's supposed to be price paid, and then dates. Can you please clarify? This is my first day, and I'm a little confused.

Thx.

The first post of this thread was from when the board was just a few weeks old and there was no clear format at that time.

The correct format which we have adopted for winning bids is as follows:

TITLE: x* Region (Zone) Hotel Name
SUB-Title: $xx ... m/d/yy-m/d/yy

PS- i'm glad you bumped this thread... it serves as a positive reminder of just how far the board has come since our beginnings :)

I see there are a couple of posts that show ideal examples of Hotwire and Priceline posts. It would be good to include those examples in the first post of this thread so that it will show up right at the top. Also suggest including the TripAdvisor info (Ex. "4.5/5 200+ reviews") - I found that to be really helpful in IDing a property.

Thanks

I guess I'm from the GUI generation & it's hard for me to navigate in forums like this. How about providing instructions or a link to where to post my info about successful bidding? It would make sense to add it to the first example post.
