I'm wondering if someone can help me? I heard Marriott went completly smoke free. If I bid and receive a Marriott hotel, can I cancel due to this? Has anyone heard if this is true? Also, I was checking the Caribe Hilton to gage the cost of a room before bidding and they show no rooms for Jan 18, 2008. Does anyone know why this may be when date is so far out? Sorry, looking for a room in San Jaun, prefer closer to Old San Jaun. Thanks for any help you can give me.

penguinlo - all Marriott brands has a non smoking policy inside the hotels since this fall. And you can't cancel a hotel on PL for this reason. Please read this post "www.betterbidding.com/index.php?showtopic=23274&" before you bid. You will also find some very helpfull information under questions and suggestions.

If the Caribe Hilton don't show the rack rates on the homepage you better give them a call or maybe do a search on Expedia etc. I can't help you with information regarding the San Juan area.

penguinlo - I forgot to tell you that you should't base you bid on the Expedia rate. That rate will only give you an estimate. Sometimes the rates are lower and sometimes higher on Expedia. Use the Hilton rack rate and this board as a guideline.

yellowdog is correct above that Marriott's are smoke-free and this would not be grounds for you to cancel.

January is still part of peak season and they may have a minimum nite stay requirement for that nite/weekend. If you go directly to the Caribe Hilton website, you'll find no availability for 1/18... but if you search for 1/18-1/20 you will see that the hotel is available.
