staying at 2* properties is usually a gamble, but in this case, I was pleased with my recent stay at the Days Inn, Brooklyn located in the Sunset Park neighborhood. Check in was a breeze as I had called in advance to request a non smoking room. This hotel has 8 parking spots out front, so I was happy to grab one and did not move my car. Street parking is very limited in this neighborhood. My room was clean but very small and featured a queen bed, small refrigerator, work area, free wifi, and free local phone calls. Typical continental breakfast is free. Although I did not use public transportation, this hotel is just a few blocks away from the subway with easy access to Manhattan. This neighborhood is a bit run down and reminds me of the area around the Jersey City Ramada Limited as it is has businesses as well as multi-family housing and apartments. I walked a few blocks for dinner at Tacos Matamoros, one of the many authentic Mexican restaurants in the area. All in all, the location can't be beat for quick access to NYC, but is still less convenient than than the Jersey City area. The desk clerk is behind security glass.
