Credit card information

When confirming my credit card information, Priceline and Hotwire are demanding my disclosure of the three digit code appearing on the back of my credit card. Is this a normal cridt card practice? I have yet to make a bid until the sundatnce of this information request is confirmned.

Yes, it is common practice to request that 3 digit number when a card is not physically present to be swiped. It is a protection for you so that a credit card number that may have been stolen can not be used.

I am finding that most online purchases I make require that number.
