Can these codes be used regardless of whether or not I actually am flying with the particular airline and/or going through costco etc?
Any help would be appreciated.

I always check the rates with several codes from that list and book the lowest, without even looking whose it is. So do my friends. We have never been asked to show any ID, certificate, business card, flight ticket or anything else. The rental agent really couldn't care less, and I'm sure the rental company is happy to get the business even at a low margin.

I usually get the best rate with Avis' D002807.

I checked some of the discount codes on various companies. However, I found that if I use the "shop all rates" at the Budget site I get the lowest rate. The rate code was L5 and it offered 5% discount. When I wrote this code it did not give me the same discounted amount.

I wouldn't be that confident regarding some codes.

I many times use the Avis code for the University of Florida (which is not listed above). They generally ask me to see my University ID and whether I'm traveling for ``official business'' or a personal trip. The only difference is that insurances are included at no cost if traveling in representation of the University (this part based on trust).

On the other hand, I once was upgraded two categories for free because I had to wait for about an hour to get service. I later tried to use the code I found on the receipt (different than the one on the reservation). I was succesful for only one other reservation. This was with Hertz.

Regards,

2pi.

Alamo link not listed above.... (Alamo)

Used Rate Code AW, and request ID 306704. (Good thru 12/31/04). This is a Delta Skymiles promotion that will give you double miles on rentals of 3-14 days, in addition to great rates. Went to Delta's site then to the Skymiles page. Looked at the car rental partners page, and clicked on the limited-time offers link. From there clicked on the Alamo link provided and it prefilled the correct rate code.

Reserved a convertible @ MIA from 09/10 - 09/13 for $38.61 day. As it gets closer to those dates, I will be trying Priceline for a cheaper deal.

I found the best discount at Avis with the AAA code.
So when I go to pick up the car are they going to ask me for the AAA ID or some other proof that I am entitled to it?

Has anyone had that happen to one?

As mentioned above some are never asked for ID while others have been asked... your milage may vary. However, i would think that AAA and Gov't rates are more likely to be asked for proof that others (like BJ Memberships and HiltonHonor memberships).

Our Car Rental Checker is also useful for checking rates.

The deal I found with AAA discount at Avis would sae me almost 250 bucks rolleyes.gif So it is more likely that they would ask me for the ID

I just checked that the AAA membership costs only $51 for the first year. That would be worth to just get the membership. A specially that during my trip I will be staying at many different hotels, so AAA should help with that also.

Thanks everyone for help smile.gif

Here's another code for Enterprise.
Enterprise Corporate ID Number, 01A8037

It's the corporate class code for Beta Gamma Sigma, an international business honor society. I've never been asked to show proof of affiliation.
The following weblink takes you to an Enterprise link for Beta Gamma Sigma.
http://www.betagammasigma.org/enterprise.htm

The rates for cars are OK (I got a compact car at Sacramento Int'l Airport for $22/day for a Sunday-Tuesday rental. The rate is a little high compared to what folks might be able to bid for on Priceline, but Enterprise does not charge an underage (21-24) fee ($15/day) for young renters with this code.

I tried bidding for a rental car on Priceline (I started at $15 for a compact and eventually went up to $35) but they wouldn't bite because my bid was "too low" considering the underage fee that rental car companies like to tag on, which range from $10-$30/day.

It's strange that I couldn't get a car for less than $35 on Priceline because the clerk @ Enterprise told me they had over 100 cars on the lot that day that weren't being used.

I hope this code is useful! cool.gif

Found a few codes and coupons off the Web. Wondering if it's acceptable to share the links with folks here.

Go ahead, if they're already on the web all we're doing is putting them in one place for others to easily access them.

Anyone ever have any problem using costco code with budget? I have family members who are members of costco but I'm not. I don't want to book the car only to have the person at the front desk at to see my costco card. Any experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

I was wondering if anybody could confirm this. I'm looking for a good deal in Syracuse, NY for an underage rental, but those underage charges can be pretty ridiculous.

I rented a car from Budget using the Costco code. (It was a one-way trip, so couldn't use Priceline or Hotwire.)

I was not specifically asked for proof as the rental was rung up and I filled out the paperwork, but I did pay with my Costco-branded AmEX...

I did use the Costco code for our recent Hawaii trip and we were asked for proof of membership once and not the second time (both rentals were with Alamo). I think it depends upon the rental agent and/or location.

Besides a good price with the Costco card, we were given an additional driver at no charge (usally $6-$8/day) which is what made this the best choice for us.

I always go to the flyertalk.com rental car forums for my car rental discount codes. There's almost always one that will help.

With Budget, I have been using this code that somebody there got off a Von's grocery bag. I think it's about the same discount as the Costco promo, but you don't need to produce the bag. cool.gif

I have used the costco discount code on the budget website to book a reservation. I am not a member of costco though. I am not sure if the agency asks to see proof of costco membership. Does anyone know for sure? Does anyone have any other discount codes for budget that do not require membership of any sort? Any help would be appreciated!
