Hotwire Hotel: 3.5* New York City (Times Square South) Holiday Inn New York City - Times Square

We are traveling to NYC December 25-30 for site seeing.  There are 2 adults and 1 child (9 yr old).  We could possibly do a queen if there is some sort of sofa/sofa bed.  I know Priceline only is searching for double occupancy.  It is hard to tell if there is anything extra to accommodate a child sleeping.  A friend of mine last year did a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal and go City Club which had a sofa bed in the room. Looking to be somewhat in the center of everything.  

 

4.5 Star Priceline Grand Central Terminal - UN Area  for $169 (Queen), there is an option for a double at $207.  (Not sure if the same hotel is for both options.

Thanks.  I know that this time of year is not cheap, so we aren't looking for a 5 star.  My preference is to keep it under $230 a night.

==> this is likely the W Hotel.  It's a relatively easy commute to NYC via the PATH train (about 15 minutes to midtown) but you do lose a bit of convenience from the standpoint that can't easily return to your hotel throughout the day like you can if your hotel is in NYC (wash up before dinner, take a nap or put your feet up for awhile, drop of anything you have acquired shopping during the day, etc).  If you're arriving via Newark Airport this becomes even more of a viable option... less so if coming in from LGA or JFK.

 

4* Lower East Side - East Village for $145.00

==> Holiday Inn NYC - Lower East Side which is an up and coming area with lots of new restaurants, boutiques, bars, cafes, etc. opening up.  It's not the most centrally located, but two subway lines nearby that can have you in midtown in about 10 minutes.

I like the 4.5 as an option, the other ones are too far out.  We will be flying not sure of the times yet.  What are the thoughts about waiting?  With a high demand time, will the deals steadily get worse?

Just booked our flight and our date changed slightly.  We will return 12/29 instead, flight is at about 8 pm.

I'm taking a look at the 3 1/2 star for the Timesquare Theatre District for $174 on Priceline.  Based on the list on your site, I believe it to be The Gallivant Times Square or the Four Points by Sheraton.  What are your thoughts?   Hopefully the Sheraton as that appears to have the sofa bed option The Gallivant doesn't appear to have that option.

Why make it difficult on yourself?  Why not just book a PRICELINE EXPRESS or HOTWIRE offer that shows a Bed Type that will work for your family... or book a HOTWIRE hotel when searching for 2adults/1child that you are guaranteed will accommodate everyone?
