Hi, anyone has experienced booking thru priceline....i booked at Serrano (bidding) with their usual 2 guests, but we are taking along our 10yr old son, called the hotel, we were assigned a single queen bed (of course, for 2 people), i was hoping they would give us a king bed or 2 double bed (as what we got in 2 hotels in Maui)....asked if they can change it but the receptionist said she cant do anything to change it.  :(  I guess someone will have to sleep on the floor.  If they cant change it,or Im willing to pay extra to get a room with 2 double beds.

While we welcome both positive and negative experiences, please keep in mind that the spirit of this message board is helping users.

If you have a complaint, problem, or question with a recent or upcoming Priceline/Hotwire stay, we will be happy to do what we can to help, but please be considerate of the board's primary goal of helping others and first post the details of your 'win.'

It is important for everyone to know when problems and customer service issues arise, but the majority of the users come here to see winning bid information... so please oblige them with this information before asking for them for help.

Thanks

It would be appreciated if you would use the 'ADD REPLY and SHARE WIN' button on the top right corner of the board to add the additional details of your purchase to this thread (room rate per nite and dates of your stay) as this will then automatically add a link to your win in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and our Priceline Maps, as well as help others who may be looking to go to San Francisco around the same time as you (or around this time in future years and will use the data for year-over-year comparisons)

In regards to your situation above, the risk of using PRICELINE bidding for more than double occupancy in some areas is greater than in others... in large cities such as NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco a high percentage of rooms only have one bed (often rooms with two beds cost more and are considered an upgraded) and therefore the risk of using for more than double occupancy is greater; whereas family friendly locations that are used to catering to families (Orlando, Anaheim, etc) have a higher percentage of rooms with two beds and the risk of landing a room with only one bed is substantially less.

In the future when you need to ensure a room with two beds i would look at PRICELINE EXPRESS and HOTWIRE which now often show room configurations on many offers and you can guarantee the room type you want/need.

As far as what to do now for your San Francisco stay, i would call the hotel again (try a different time of day in hopes of getting somebody different on the phone) and what type of room you have been assigned and then ask if there is anyway to upgrade to a (room type you want here) as you (insert story here how originally going to be you and your spouse but sitter/relative plans fell thru and now child will be coming with you).  Before you make the call research the room types and costs to know the price difference between the room you have been assigned and the room type you want... and offer to pay that difference ahead of time (now) to ensure the room type you want. (and explain that you see the price difference is $xx and you'd be willing to pay that now ahead of time if they could upgrade you, and that you would really appreciated it)

Good luck and let us know how it goes (and please do add the additional information to complete the topic title so this thread can best help others in the future)

Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases.
