I should have said.  Yes, I'm searching for two rooms for five adults.  It's now showing at $375 when I search.  

 

Starting a separate topic to look for suggestions for this trip to see my niece graduate from Columbia.  My 92 year old mother requires an elevator.  Two sets of adults can share beds, but preferably if they're king size (and not sharing would be better).

 

Pretty flexible on budget for the right property.  Could do $1500 with tax for the two nights.

With the least expensive 4* or better in this zone starting at $369, you will be well over budget on an all-in basis.

 

As hotels in this zone will likely have inflated prices due to graduation, and not offer much in the way of discounts (given they have a captive audience with graduation), why not stay elsewhere in the city and take a taxi to/from graduation?  Even if $30 each way you could easily come out ahead of the game, get your mom as close as possible to the graduation entrance without any walking, as well as be in a more convenient location for anything you want to see or do while in the city (when not attending the graduation ceremonies)

This makes a lot of sense.  Even if we're three blocks from the university, we'd probably take a cab.

Ideally you would want to stay on the West Side to make for easy travel to the UWS area and i have found this (when searching for 2rooms/5adults):

4* Chelsea for $215.00
Free Internet
Smoke Free
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
==> my guess here would be the Hotel Henri by Wyndham or the Hilton New York Fashion District, and while the 60% recommendation by previous guests is not a ringing endorsement, the 4.0/5.0 TA rating is good, and perhaps at this price you can make it work for your needs

==> i'm not sure which hotel this is, but the 8+ user review rating is good, and for $287/nite you could choose the option with 2 Queen beds (NOTE: that since this is PRICELINE EXPRESS all that is guaranteed is double occupancy, but it think you would be OK if booking 2 rooms each with 2 beds since the room type can easily accommodate the triple occupancy you need in one of the rooms
