Hotwire Hotel: 4* New York City (SoHo - Tribeca) Sheraton Tribeca

I am new to this site. I tried both the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links and it took me to those sites but they said nothing about bidding. Priceline had "express deals" which were hotels that apparently are cheaper but they do not disclose the name. Hotwire had a similar feature. Is that it, or is there a way to actually bid for a room. Is there a way to get a room for less than the "express" price.

I want to go to NYC Feb 23-26, and my two "targets" are Rockefeller center area, and Tribeca/Soho. I saw the 4* list and some of the hotels have great reviews, some mixed. Naturally I want a great deal for my money, not necessarily 4*, but very nice, safe and good location.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you use our BiddingHelper.com tool the landing page will default the PRICELINE bidding page.

However, when bidding on PRICELINE you need to be willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating (or higher) that you bid.  So if absolute lowest price is the objective, then bidding on PRICELINE is typically going to be the least expensive way to book... if you're try to target, or avoid, specific properties then paying a little more and using PRICELINE EXPRESS / HOTWIRE is a better option.

Let us know your thoughts as to what is more important to you for this trip (targeting/avoiding specific properties vs. the lowest possible price) and we will advise accordingly.

I want to visit NYC Feb 23-26. I lived there for quite a while but it has been a long time and I know there have been changes.

I have never bid for a hotel room before. I will recap what I have learned from this site; please correct me if I am wrong.

Priceline offers hotel rooms on its site. If I specify 4* Rockefeller Center area, I get 10 or 11. They range from $131 for Club Quarters midtown, to $281 for the library hotel. There is also a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for an unnamed 4* for $106. Would it be safe to assume the Express deal is the Club Quarters Midtown? I can also bid on a 4* room. Since I know nothing about it that I don't know about the Express deal and vice versa, I would be crazy to bid $106 or more. It would only make sense to bid less, right? And I assume that I would be bidding on the same room as the Express, right?

I checked the reviews of all the 4* that have been won by bidding. The CQ midtown is the only one where I think the reviews are a bit sketchy.

An unrelated question that I will throw out in case anyone happens to care to answer. My other thought was Soho/Tribeca because I understand that it is entirely different than when I lived in NYC. Any comments on what to see and do there if I visit one day, or any reason why I should be looking at hotel rooms there?

Thanks for your help.

Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the upper right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion.

The 'bidding' side of PRICELINE (Name Your Own Price), the PRICELINE EXPRESS side, and the 'retail' side (regular hotel rates and names shown before purchase) each use a different database of hotels, so you can't look at the retail side to determine what it is that you will get when bidding (although there is a lot of overlap).

Likewise, the hotel you think you see offered on PRICELINE EXPRESS is not necessarily the one that you will receive when bidding on PRICELINE; although you are correct that you wouldn't want to bid more than the current PRICELINE EXPRESS price (if bidding the same zone and star rating).

For help with PRICELINE EXPRESS offers please include the full details of the hotel you're seeing.  For example, i believe that this is the one you're referencing above, although i'm currently seeing this for $101/nite (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links provided below):

4* Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park for $101
Business Center
Restaurant
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> best guess here would be the Club Quarters Midtown

You don't mention your budget, but if this is your ideal zone, for just a little more i'm also seeing:

4.5* Rockefeller Center - Bryant Park for $134
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Restaurant
Free Internet
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> my guess here would be the Omni Berkshire which generally gets very good reviews

If you're considering Soho this option:

4* SoHo - Tribeca for $93
Restaurant
Free Internet
==> my guess would be the Arlo Hudson Square

Another area that has likely changed quite a bit since you lived here is Chelsea, where i'm seeing:

4.5* Chelsea Area for $122
Business Center
Restaurant
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> INNSIDE New York Nomad would be my best guess for this one and gets excellent reviews

Do any of the above work for your needs... or if you'd prefer to try bidding let us know which zones you'd like to include in your bidding, your desired star rating, and maximum bid... we will suggest a strategy for you to follow.

Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing your results with the board... glad to see you're pleased with the outcome and looking forward to your trip.

I believe there may have been more amenities than you listed in your post, which would not have been seen unless you searched using the EASY VIEW TAB of our BiddingHelper.com tool.

Can you please add a reply to this thread confirming the full list of amenities associated with this property (including any accessible amenities)... you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT link near the top right of their home page.
