Hello, first time user here so hopefully I got this right:

Hotwire 4-Star Hotel in L.A. Live - Staples Center area

2/20 - 2/22 1 room, 2 adults, 2 children

$149/night (normally $314/night according to Hotwire)

When I tried the Hotwire Easy VIew there is no 4* $149/night, but there is a 3.5* $142/night listed:

Difficult to say without seeing the complete amenity set for this property, but my guess for the 4* would be The Westin Bonaventure Hotel and Suites, Los Angeles.

 

For the 3.5* i'm currently seeing this property at $189/nite, if still interested, my guess would be The LA Hotel Downtown.

Thank you!  We're a family of 4 looking to stay for a couple days in LA and visit friends & family, and take in Universal Studios Hollywood.  I figured a downtown hotel would make it easy to get to Universal by metro, but I'm open to anything really.  Family friendly, preferable to not pay for parking my rental car, and a breakfast buffet would be nice.  Again, I'm not beholden to downtown LA.  Any ideas?  I just want it to be a well-known respected chain hotel, clean of course, and not too far from Universal with LA traffic.  Any ideas?

You will likely need to get outside of the 'downtown' area to get free parking (which may then makes metro access more difficult)... and note that neither of the hotels above offer free parking.

Downtown Los Angeles to Universal Studios is about a 45 minute trip via the metro.. not sure if this falls into your realm of 'easy' or not.

 

What is your maximum budget (per nite before taxes/fees) for this trip?  What area(s) are your friends/family in that you intend on visiting?

Thanks again thereuare.  Max budget is probably around the $179/night range.  My friends/family are mostly in the West Hollywood area, one in Thousand Oaks, one in Diamond Bar.  Hope that helps?

What about the commute to Universal...is 45+ minutes acceptable?

A shorter commute would be preferrable, yes.  I'm not too worried about distance from friends/family, so if I was a little closer to Universal that's better.  I appreciate it!
