Also looking at Name-Your-Price for Carmel Valley 3.5* $78 but no amenities given.

I'm not seeing a PRICELINE EXPRESS listing in Carmel for $108 for these dates - are you still seeing it when searching?

 

For NYOP, you have to be willing to stay at any hotel at the star rating picked in the zone chosen. Putting a price does not mean that the a bid will be accepted; you have to click to finalize the bid and then wait while the service searches to see whether a hotel will accept your bid or not. If one does, then you are locked in at that price at the accepting hotel for those dates. If not, then you are told that no hotel accepted the offer.

I tried to replicate the search and no longer found that offer. I am now seeing 3.5* in Monterey for $101 with pets allowed, business center, pool, restaurant, no smoking, and free internet.
