Hotwire Hotel: 5* Las Vegas (Strip North) The Venetian

Hello all and thanks in advance for any assistance you can give. I am a noobie to this whole idea of using tools such as this to help find a room. While I recognize that my question is largely going to vary depending on individual interests, I'm hoping to get help figuring out which hotels are available and what might be my best bet. I'm planning a trip to Las Vegas and need a hotel for Jan 1 - 4th checking out on the 4th early in the morning to fly back home. I have had three failed back surgeries and so finding a comfortable bed is going to be priority number one. I prefer softer, but not too soft. A hard bed will cause a ton of pain. Other than that I'm open. I can visit a casino if one isn't on the property. I will have my 17 year old son with me so I can't spend all day or evening away in a place he can't go. I prefer to hang in the $150 a night or less area if possible but if there is a huge upgrade for not much more I'm open to that as well. Any suggestions or help you can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks again

==> The Mirage

4.5* Las Vegas Strip South for $76

5* Las Vegas Strip South for $106

Of the above i would first have a look at the Vdara as it's well located and in CityCenter so plenty to see and do nearby for those that are not of gambling (or drinking) age.  Next best option in my opinion would be The Mirage.

Hello, sorry was not well and have not booked yet. I need to book today and am afraid the choices are not the same. If you could help one more time that would be much appreciated. I am able to go up to $150 a night before taxes but prefer to be in the $130 area. Regardless, can you help me find the best hotel for that money again? The best bedding is priority number one. Thanks, I'm sorry to have to ask again, I just have damage to the base of my spine and sometimes the pain will get so bad I'll be unable to do much of anything.  I see you had some 4 and 4.5 star hotels in the first suggestion, was that because of price or are they really just nicer? It's the first and possibly only time I will go so I want it to be nice. Also, my wife and I are close to our 25th anniversary and I want something special for her as well.

I keep remembering updates, the strip would be nice but we will have a car so it's not a necessity, I just mainly want the nicest hotel I can afford. Doesn't have to be the most expensive just really stunning. I've never stayed in a 5 star hotel before so any of them are probably going to be a big step up from the norm.

Thanks again

Kevin

also,  am I better off in Hotwire or Priceline?

So I do think there are a number of options within your range. When looking at some of the potential hotels, do any of the above seem like a good fit for what you are looking for? Definitely let us know your thoughts and let us know if you have any further questions at all.

so how likely is it that the ones you mentioned come back different? Or should I find one or two and see what you think?

also, this one might be a stretch but do you know which hotel this is on Hotwire? "5-star All-suites Hotel in North Strip - Fashion Show Mall area"

its the the only one that says "all suites hotel" and im curious what that is. I show it for $139 a night. And it shows a $32 resort fee. Which puts it a little out of my range but might be able to squeeze it if it's something that much better. I've never stayed in any of these places or been to Vegas. Would you or anyone suggest what might be considered the one or two nicest hotels. I just want to go as insane as possible in luxury for my wife. She deserves it after putting up with me for 25 years lol

thanks for helping

Let's backtrack a moment..

How many guests do you need accommodations for, as your options will be different based upon whether you're searching for double occupancy or if you need space for 3+ guests.

Note that in Vegas most of the higher end hotels now charge more for anything over double occupancy.  Are you willing to book for two and show up with three? (you would then only have two people go up to the desk at check-in and request a room with two beds, however, the hotel may not be able (or willing) to accommodate your request.  However, we could try to focus on hotels that have a pullout sofabed in the room so that should you not be able to get a room with 2 beds, at least you could use the pullout sofabed as a 'fallback' option... if this is an option better for you and your son to go for check-in while your wife explores the lobby area of the hotel, as the front desk clerk may be more accommodating to your request seeing that it is you and your son (who would likely not want to share a bed))

Next, what is your maximum budget? (before fees/taxes... keeping in mind that most Vegas hotels charge a resort fee of about $35/nite)

Let us know the information above and we will highlight the best options for your dates.

Wow, I had no idea they charged extra. It seems crazy to me to charge extra to bring my son. Ok if I had several I get there might be a lot more cleaning...

i guess I'm saying yes I'm willing to say it's just 2 of us. And with resort fee I'd like to stay u see $175. Still if I'm under $150 that's awesome, but if there is a significant step up for not a lot more then I'm game. But if there isn't a big difference then cheaper is better. I don't need to spend just to spend. But I'm lost as to what is really higher end...

thanks again for the clarity and I'm using the betterbidding link to search and book.

Best options / suggestions (confirm your dates on the landing page of any links provided below):

5* Las Vegas Strip South for $106
Pets Allowed
Business Center
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> Vdara... centrally located, no casino, but attached to CityCentre Mall so a short walk to Aria when you want to gamble  Most rooms here are 1King bed + 1Sofabed

4.5* Las Vegas Strip North for $68
Business Center
Free Internet
Indoor or Outdoor Pool
Casino
Fitness Center
No Smoking Rooms/Facilities
==> The Mirage... getting a bit older but a Vegas classic if trying to stay well under budget.  Provides a good value at this price, even if not 'luxurious' (although it's still very nice... just no 'wow' factor)

4* North Strip - Fashion Show Mall for $45.00
Free Parking
Resort
Casino
Fitness
Pool
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Golf
Spa
Blind Accessible
Deaf Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower
==> Treasure Island... Mirage above probably worth the extra $20/nite, but nothing wrong w/ Treasure Island, although it's a bit dark, imo)

5* Center Strip - Fountains for $114.00
Free Internet
Resort
Casino
Fitness
Pool
Restaurant
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Golf
Spa
Blind Accessible
Deaf Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower
==> Aria... similar to Vdara comments above but this one does have a casino

5* North Strip - Fashion Show Mall for $140.00
Free Parking
Resort
Suite
Casino
Fitness
Pool
Business
Hi-Speed Internet
Spa
Blind Accessible
Deaf Accessible
Travel Accessible
Room Accessible
Bathroom Accessible
Handicapped Parking
Roll-in Shower
==> Palazzo... truly a 5* hotel and has the 'wow' factor.  Although it's the most expensive of those discussed here, it also provides the largest rooms (~700sq ft) which are bi-level suites which is nice when there are 3+ guests (no wall separating the two areas... but a sleeping area and then a sunken living room).  It is a step above all of the other hotels listed here, but whether it's worth the added expense will depend how much you 'care' about the hotel experience and if the additional cost will prevent you from doing other things while in Vegas.  You won't get this level of hotel for $150 in any other part of the country and the oversized rooms (and oversized marble bathroom) makes everyone feel like a high-roller.

Hope that gives you enough information regarding each property to make a decision.

Assuming you purchased your hotel today it's possible that the offer had changed from 2-3 days ago (especially given the slight rate change)... can you please add a reply to this thread with the full amenity set (including any accessible amenities) associated with the hotel you purchases; you can still view this information by going to HOTWIRE and clicking the MY ACCOUNT >> MY TRIPS link near the top right of their home page.

As far as the Venetian vs. Palazzo, the two rooms are basically identical.  The two hotels are 'sister' properties and are connected by a long hallway with restaurants/bars.  The Palazzo is a little newer, but you can't go wrong with either.

I've had three failed back surgeries and it leaves me in pain most of the time. Sometimes like recently, it gets so bad I'm unable to do much. I probably should have asked again, I just assumed it was the same and went up a couple dollars since it was closer to our stay time. Regardless I'm pumped about getting to try a 5* hotel. Here is what I got from HOTWIRE:

Amenities

Resort, Free parking, Suite, Casino, Fitness center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business center, Self-service laundry, Internet access, Spa services

And thank you again for all the help. I know now that I need to act quicker next time.
