C-MAC
Hello all, I am considering using PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals for the first time to book a hotel in the Mid-Town East section of NYC. Stated cost is for a 1-night stay on Saturday 10/1 and offers several room choices including: Premium Room ($202), King Bed - Superior Room ($202), Double Bed - Deluxe Room ($235), King Bed - Deluxe Room (235), and 1-Bedroom Suite ($519). Stated amenities include: - Pets Allowed - Fitness Center - Business Center - Restaurant - No smoking Any thoughts on what hotel this is? Does this seem like a reasonable deal worth pursuing? Thanks for any help! Chris Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! You didn't mention a star rating, but i assume you're referring to this 4.5* Midtown East hotel (confirm your dates on the landing page) with the amenity set above? If so, best guess for this one would be The InterContinental Barclay which has been getting great reviews since their recent renovations. C-MAC
You are correct - 4.5 stars. The InterContinental looks good, and we'd be happy staying there. Is this a worthwhile rate to jump on? I coincidentally almost booked that hotel without knowing anything of it this past weekend because I saw it was publicly priced at $187/nigh, but I didn't catch it before going up. So this express deal is close but not the least I've seen the hotel. Would it be any better of an idea to try to submit a bid, and if so, how much below the express deal is recommended? Thanks! thereuare
Nobody can say if the rate will come down, or move even higher, between now and your trip. What is known is that current this property is priced at $255/nite for your date above so i would think that the $50 savings is a decent deal given that you're getting a great property with excellent reviews. The risk in bidding is what if you receive a different 4.5* hotel in the zone? If you won a bid and saved (let's say) $20 vs. the price above, but the hotel you win is 'just ok' and mediocre reviews, would it be worth the $20/nite savings? C-MAC
Ended up using the Priceline Express deal (via the links provided above) as described and got the Intercontinental Barclay hotel at $202/night. Compared to publicly available rates, it was around a $50-75 savings. Thanks very much for your help! We're looking forward to our stay. Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you received a nice deal at this newly renovated property and that you're happy with the outcome. You're also near my often recommended Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city, makes for a nice, and relatively inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers. Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase. Enjoy your stay.
