Lhob2bid
looking to bid on las vegas north or center strip for 5* hotel; 2 adults and a 12 year old; 7/6-7/8/2016; pool, free internet; willing to pay no more than $120 with resort fees; but prefer to stay around $80. Thank you. oh and how do you get to hotwire name your price page from your website? I seem to only get to the regular site where they have prices for the hotels. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! Both PRICELINE and HOTWIRE are 'opaque' booking services in the sense that you don't learn the name of the hotel you will receive until after the purchase, but only PRICELINE offers a bidding service. With HOTWIRE the star rating, zone, price, and amenities associated with the hotel are shown prior to your purchase... you can either take the hotel at the price offered or not, there is no negotiating (in addition to PRICELINE's bidding service they also offer PRICELINE EXPRESS which is similar to HOTWIRE's service of showing details and price of a hotel but not the name) One more thing to keep in mind is that all PRICELINE reservations are booked for double occupancy, only HOTWIRE will enable you to include up to quad occupancy in your search. Is something like the Trump (which is in the Strip North zone but is actually located a little off-strip and does not have a casino) acceptable? If so i think you can get closer to your $120 all-in budget (at $130/nite all-in)... but with most 5* hotels charging resort fees of about $35/nite, your $80 all-in budget is not realistic as that would only leave about $45 for a room rate including taxes/fees. Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Based upon the above let us know your thoughts as to how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Lhob2bid
Thank you. Would consider Trump but why is it that there are some reviews that are really negative ? How about a 4 * hotel? Would really like one with a great pool (to swim in not socialize). Link to comment
thereuare
Trump is not located directly on the strip, has no casino, and doesn't have any of the 'over-the-top' or a theme that most other Vegas hotels have. Take the Trump hotel and put it anywhere else in the country and it would likely get great reviews... but it's 'just a nice hotel' which is not what many are looking for from their Vegas hotel stays. What is your budget before taxes/fees and exactly what aspects (in priority order) are most important to you for this trip? Lhob2bid
do not want over the top just want something more than a hotel room. we are in long beach ca right now and paid $179 per room before taxes and not happy with it. So I need an upgrade... suite would be great so daughter can have her own space. no glitz, but should be close to a casino in case husband wants to gamble a bit, great pool would be nice since it will be hot and while we have been in long beach for 4 days, their tiny pool was not appealing. center strip is ok. we are only staying 2 nights with 1 full day to the grand canyon, so want to see the essence of vegas in a short period of time but a bit upscale. would pay $100 before taxes and fees at the most. Lhob2bid
between vdara and trump, which is a better deal? looks like trump may be at 85 and vdara at 73? Link to comment
AaronJB
Which is more appealing to you in terms of style, location, amenities and other features? $73 is an awfully low rate for a 5* in Vegas at any time of year. If you would like us to try to confirm the Vdara listing, please let us know the full details of the listing (amenities, zone, star rating, price per night before taxes/fees.) Let us know your thoughts on the above and if you have any additional questions. Lhob2bid
Thank you for all your help. I now have a better understanding of how these sites work. I was settling for Trump but called Palazzo and their rates were $159 vs. $138 on HOTWIRE. But they have $150 resort credit plus adding smart pkg (worth $40), so we are likely to book direct. I don't think HOTWIRE price includes resort credit. Will use it for breskfast. Thanks again. Link to comment
