GOMUPACK
From preliminary looks, this weekend seems VERY EXPENSIVE! Does anyone know why? Is there a large event in Chicago this weekend? Looking for a hotel in MAG MILE/GOLD COAST or in MILLENNIUM PARK. May also consider RIVER NORTH. Usually look at 4*+ for best deal, but those are indicating $300+ per night. So dropping to 3.5*, and maybe 3? Bid $50 per night (yes, that's ridiculously low) just to see what happens and then hopped over to the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deals. All were VERY high, but I'm seeing the following Express Deals: $202 - 3* River North: 7/10 rating, Bus Center, Fitness Ctr, Restaurant, In/Out Pool $217 - 3.5* Millennium Park: 7/10 rating, Bus Ctr, Fitness Ctr, Restaurant, Non-smoking, Free Internet.....Bed choice avail The low 3* scares me - so the upgrade to $217 in better area looks better. Any help identifying these candidates is greatly appreciated! Thank you! Link to comment
AaronJB
Not sure why this weekend is as expensive as it is, I'm guessing there's a convention. Are you flying in or driving in? If you are driving, you can get something in the burbs for less than half of comparable downtown prices. You can probably get something nice in the North suburbs for the $60's, or possibly high $50's depending on star rating. It just becomes a matter of the trek into the city and at what point are the savings worthwhile. For the PRICELINE EXPRESS offers above my guess for the 3 star River North (confirm your dates on the landing page) would be the Best Western River North Hotel. for the 3.5* i'm seeing a different amenity set (again, confirm your dates on the landing page): Business Center Restaurant Fitness Center No Smoking Rooms/Facilities ... if this is what you're seeing my guess here would be the River Hotel Please remember to return to BetterBidding and use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPSandHOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. AaronJB
North suburbs are cheaper and will work if your friend is driving. There's a 4* in Northbrook for $73 on HOTWIRE for these dates, then it's a matter of getting to the nearest train and riding downtown. Definitely tell your friend about Betterbidding and please keep us updated on what is decided.
