Ok I went back and replied, I did not end up booking anything for that last trip. I'll make sure to come back and keep things updated! 

Right now I am currently looking for a room on the las vegas strip for 2 people (1bed) May 20th - May23. We are flexible with the dates maybe we will stay only saturday and sunday night becaue we are on a budget. We are looking something near mandalay bay since we have friends staying there. Unless we find a good deal else where.

I'm actually only seeing a 4* for $185 in the South Strip (Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Free Internet, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Spa, Free Parking, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Wheelchair Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower) when searching for these dates.

 

That would likely be the Tropicana, which is 1.1mi from Mandalay Bay.

 

I'm seeing a 4* in Center Strip for $150 w/Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Spa, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower, Pet Friendly.

-- Likely Westin, which is 2.2mi from Mandalay Bay, so not exactly a huge additional distance and this is within budget.

I was so happy to see it was mandalay bay and I went to go book it but the hot rate went up to $170 (same amenities list) 
I was so close, I can never check back in time before things change.

oh well I will check again by the end of the day and again tmrw in hopes that the rate goes back down to around 150 and I will book. will keep updating.
