kleine23
Greetings! My future wife and I are looking to book travel to NYC for the dates of 4/11-4/16 of this year. We are looking to be in the $100 per night range as far as pricing goes. Location is more flexible as long as it is close to subway so we can get to other parts of the city. Some of the ones we are looking at are listed below. Chelsea Area Empire State Building Area Greenpoint - Williamsburg Midtown East Midtown West Madison Square Garden - Convention Area Times Square - Theatre District (not sure about the lower districts like SoHo, Union Square, Downtown - Financial, etc. Thoughts on those?) Does that price range work with the dates of travel? What would be the best bidding strategy for this? Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :) Unfortunately, $100 per night is seen really only in the slowest period of the year (Jan-early Mar). For these dates in Midtown, a 4* will likely run at least around $150-175 (or higher, depending on zone.) A 3.5* can possibly be had for less, but unfortunately, it will still likely take around $130-140. If you are flexible on location, you could likely get a 4* in Chicago for these dates for $90-110. kleine23
Thanks for your input. NYC is where we are for sure going so guess I will see what happens when bidding. We did stay in Brooklyn in 2011 and it wasn't that bad so might look there again. Link to comment

kleine23
ended up winning with a bid of $140 for a 3.5* in Brooklyn. Hotel Indigo Brooklyn is where we will be at. Do either of you have any knowledge/experience with this hotel? In 2011 we stayed at the Sheraton Brooklyn which is literally right across the street. Was very easy to access the subway and also the Fulton Mall so I am satisfied with the area. Link to comment
thereuare
Congratulations on your success! Glad to see you found something that will work for your needs and budget. If on your way to/from NYC i highly recommend a stop at the High Street station, walk toward the water, and just past the tourists waiting online at Grimaldi's you'll find: Juliana's19 Old Fulton St. ... there will still be a line (unless you go just as they open) but it will be shorter than Grimaldi's, as this is the original owner and oven Thank you for sharing your win with the board.
