The lowest published rate for this room was $109.00 a night for 8/15 to 8/16.

Started my bidding at $60.00, rejected but was told that if I bid $79.00 I would have a much better chance for a win. Ignored this screen.

Next bid was $63.00, rejected,

Next bid was $66.00, rejected,

Next bid was $69.00 -- BINGO

Room Subtotal:  $69.00
Trip Protection:    $5.00
Taxes & Fees:    $16.68
Total Charged Today:  $90.68

(For this trip, it was worth the $5.00 for trip protection.....)

Now, I can extend this rate for another night at the same price, but I am wondering if I should wait and see if I can get it at a cheaper rate in 24 hours.

Thoughts?

Also open to ideas and thoughts on my bidding strategy, maybe I should have bid in one or two dollar increments?

Only bummer is that the price has gone up from $10.00 to $15.00 per night for parking, but this is a great hotel.

Of course, used the BB PRICELINE link........

Congratulations on your success!

Looks like a nice deal and glad to see you're pleased with the outcome.

NOTE that the offer it to try to extend your stay... there is no assurance that PRICELINE will have access to any inventory for the additional nite that you want, and if they do, that it will be at the same price. When you attempt to extend your stay you'll gone one of the following responses:

1) you've successfully extended your stay

2) PRICELINE can extend your stay but only for $xx more then your original purchase (and you'll have the option to pay the higher price or not)

3) no inventory to extend your stay at any price

You can see that rates at the Sheraton for your dates are $115/nite, and it's the same price if you change your search to Saturday nite... but Sunday nite the price jumps to $200+. So you may have a good chance if you're trying to extend your stay for Friday... but less likely you'll be successful extending your stay at this price for Sunday nite.

Also, keep in mind that if you try bidding for an additional nite, you could receive a different hotel, so if you're not willing to risk needing to change hotels mid-trip i would just take the add-a-nite option.

Thank you for sharing your win and using the PRICELINE links on the board to begin your purchase.

Enjoy your stay... let us know if you do try to extend and, if so, how that goes.
