BowieGal
Good evening, I am planning a trip to Las Vegas from 8/14-8/16. This is a trip for me and my significant other, and will be our FIRST trip together out of town, so I really want to get the best option possible (don't we all?). I'm not sure which option will be best for my criteria, so any assistance and feedback on BOTH Priceline and Hotwire are appreciated. Details:Dates: 8/14-8/16Travelers: 2Beds: 1 (we don't want 2 beds) - King Prefereable, size not a dealbreakerRequired amenities: casino, poolStar rating: 5Budget: Out the door, I'd like to stay under $400, including taxes and resort fees. I know not to expect a certain hotel - that's the purpose of these two booking sites - but I do know that I want to avoid a hotel with no casino or pool. Are there any additional details I'm missing? Thanks so much in advance! Link to comment

yellowdog
Welcome to BetterBidding! Please keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. Once you win a hotel, use the 'ADD REPLY and REPORT WIN' button on the lower right corner of the page to edit the topic title to reflect your win and to provide the details of your purchase. This helps keep the board better organized by reducing the number of unresolved threads that don't have any follow-up or conclusion. 4* Las Vegas Strip South Area Casino Hotel $158Best guess would be Mandalay Bay Resort And Casino. 5* Las Vegas Strip South Area Casino Hotel $193Best guess would be The Cosmopolitan Of Las Vegas 5* Las Vegas Strip North Area Casino Hotel $188Both Palazzo and Venetian has been seen with this amenity combo. I would give Venetian a slight better odds of the two but I'm not really sure. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. Keep us updated on your progress and let us know what you ultimately decide or if we can be of further help. Yellowdog. Link to comment
BowieGal
Thank you! Apologies for not putting the two posts in the same thread. Any suggestions on bidding or using Hotwire. I'd like to stay under $400 including tax and resort fees. I'm willing to go down to 4.5/4 stars as well if absolutely necessary. Link to comment

Hot.wire will likely have somewhat higher rates (although potentially different options/selection) and bidding requires being willing to accept any hotel in the zone at the star rating picked. They are all of interest, but once I factor in taxes and resort fees, I think they're all going to push me into the $500 range unfortunately. I'm certainly not trying to make this too complicated. Wondering if bidding will be appropriate in this case? Only trouble is I don't want to get stuck at the Trump or Vdara with no casino and I know that is a good possibility, right? Link to comment
AaronJB
If you do not want a non-casino hotel, I'd suggest not bidding, as the Trump and Vdara - while certainly not guaranteed - are definitely possibilities if you bid. I'm seeing on Hot.wire (you may see slightly different prices.) 4* South Strip $147 Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower-- Possible match for the MGM Grand 4* North Strip $120 Resort, Casino, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Golf, Tennis, Spa, Free Parking, Blind Accessible, Deaf Accessible, Travel Accessible, Room Accessible, Bathroom Accessible, Handicapped Parking, Roll-in Shower-- Likely Treasure Island. Even with resort fees, this would be well under $500 ($348 and change; you may see a slightly different price.)You can also see all of the hotels reported to the board here: Hotwire Hotel List Nevada. Would either of these be of interest? BowieGal
Thank you again! Those are both of interest. Just need to decide on North vs South Strip. One last question for now - I have looked at the hotwire and price hotel lists for Nevada. Just curious how often those are updated? I noticed my browser periodically gave me notifications that the post had been updated, and I was wondering if it was an automated thing when people post their wins, or if it's a somewhat latent list?
