Barracuda3
Please help to identify the following hotel: Magnificent Mile North - Water Tower area boutique hotel4.5*80% Recommended I'm searching 9/19-9/22, and it's showing up as $182/night Amenities:Boutique hotel Business center Fitness center Indoor pool(s) Internet access Pet friendly Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Self-service laundry There's another 4.5* boutique hotel in the same zone listed for $190/night, which given the small number of amenities listed would seem to be the Ivy. But this one I can't figure out. It's the pool that's throwing me off. The only other 4.5* boutique hotel on the hotel list for this zone is the Thompson, which doesn't have a pool. Looking at the Hotwire standard rate page the most logical match is the W Chicago Lakeshore. The amenities match, as does the price crossed out on the Hot Rate page. Would the W be considered boutique? Thanks in advance. Link to comment
thereuare
Please follow-up your previous Hotwire New Orleans thread with whatever you decided to do for that trip, then reply here an we will have a look at your post above. Also, I believe there are more amenities then what you have posted above as HOTWIRE has a new interface that does not show the complete set of amenities unless you click thru a few extra links. If you repeat your search using our BiddingHelper.com tool... use the HOTWIRE EASY VIEW tab and then click the GREEN BUTTON next to this listing, do you see more amenities then what you have listed above? AaronJB
My guess is that the W Lakeshore has been upgraded to 4.5*. I'm seeing a different 4.5* in the zone for about the same price, too, w/Boutique, Restaurant, Smoke Free, Hi-Speed Internet. This would likely be the Ivy. Nothing against the W - I like the chain - but if given the choice between the two for about the same price (i'm seeing a few dollars difference) I'd go with the Ivy. The Ivy is a newer hotel (although that W did get a makeover not too long ago, but it's more a visual revamp of the hotel's look, which they also did with the other W in the city a few years back) and the Ivy would be a moderately better location. Please keep us updated on what you decide and let us know if you have additional questions. Thank you for sharing your win and using the site's PRICELINE or HOTWIRE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
Barracuda3
Thanks. I agree that the other 4.5* is the Ivy, and that it would be preferable to the W. Another option I'm considering is a Priceline Express Deal for a 4* in North Michigan Avenue - River North for $149. I believe this to be the Warwick Allerton, because: 1. The amenities match on list view 2. It's listed in the PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal as Guest Rating 7+, and the Warwick Allerton is the only other 4* in that zone with a rating between 7 and 8 in list view (most are 8+) 3. The price savings listed in the Express Deal are consistent with the price in list view While the Ivy is the preferable hotel, for my entire stay it'd be about $200 more, for a similar location. I'm still mulling over my options. I'll post when I make my decision. Thanks again for your help. Link to comment
AaronJB
Honestly, if you're okay with the Allerton, I'd rather recommend rolling the dice and bidding. The Whitehall and Allerton are the two "lesser" 4*'s in the zone (the Millennium Knickerbocker used to also be on that list until it was revamped a few years back. If you got the Allerton, it would not be the end of the world as much as I don't think it's a particularly good value, as it's an older hotel and the rooms are often small. The location can't be beat, certainly, but if it's something that you want to try for in terms of being a cheaper option, I'd really try to see if I could get it for even cheaper via bidding. Barracuda3
Shown Amenities were: 8.0+ ratingFree InternetBusiness CenterFitness Center I figured out that this was almost certainly the Hyatt based on the amenities and the prices of the 4* Priceline properties in that zone, and I've stayed at the Hyatt in the past and liked it, so I went with that instead of the Hotwire hotels I was looking at in River North. Nevertheless, I appreciate all of the help. Thanks! Link to comment
