pabloundurragao
Hello,I'm a trying to find something in New York, from Sep 24h to Sep 30th, 2015. It could be located in Chelsea, Central Park South, Empire State Area, Greenwich Village, Mid Town West, Union Square or Time Square. My budget is up to $250 per night (tax included) (obviously, the cheaper..the better). I'm looking for 4* or higher. Do you think that it will be possible? Thanks in advance!! P Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! At current rates you're likely looking at something in the $250 area before fees/taxes... not all-in. Are you willing to stretch your budget OR lower your star rating? Also, note that at the 4* level in the CPS zone is the Hudson Hotel, which while well located, has notoriously small rooms (even by NYC standards)... would this be acceptable? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... or thru our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com for your regular rate purchases. pabloundurragao
Thank you for your quick response. $250 plus taxes would be something like $290? In that case, it would be my last price per night. Regarding Hudson Hotel (or others with similar rooms size), it would not be acceptable. Your suggestion is to eliminate CPS as an acceptable location in my bid? Best! P Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, if there is a hotel in the zone that you're not willing to accept then you should not include that zone in your bidding. When bidding 4* in NYC you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. pabloundurragao
Thank you! I will try with that. Do you know if HOT.WIRE has better prices than PRICE.LINE? Do you think if is better to start bidding now or to wait some time? For doing that, I will have to book a refundable hotel for the case I can not book one thorugh PRICELINE or HOTWIRE at the price I am willing to pay. Can you recomend me a hotel well located, with a price up to $300 (all in) per night with free cancelation? Best! Link to comment
AaronJB
Price.line bidding is going to be lower than Hot.wire. There is no way to know if rates will come down between now and your stay, but I will say that traditionally Fall is a busy/expensive time and booking for nearly a week in late September isn't something I'd leave off until last minute. Would you rather try the plan presented before trying to book something refundable? There's going to be very little in Midtown for these dates that is refundable and $300 or less "all-in" and what is in Midtown within that price point isn't going to be great. thereuare
Can you recomend me a hotel well located, with a price up to $300 (all in) per night with free cancelation? You can use our sister site RefundableRates.com to see/compare rates that have a liberal cancellation policy... but if you're looking at rates of $250 thru PRICELINE then finding an equivalent hotel at under $300/nite and refundable may not be realistic (and a quick search i'm seeing rates at 4* hotels in the $350-$500 range)... which also raises the question, if you could lock something in now at $250 or less, this would be about a $100 savings based upon current prices, would/should this be enough saving to lock something in now? pabloundurragao
I am thinking in including also 3* hotels in my bid. How much do you think I have to bid to get one 3* hotel in Chelsea, ESB, GV, Union Square? The thing is that there are some 3* hotels that seems to be lower quality (i.e. Downtown West by Onefinestay in Chelsea;Pod 39, Gramercy Superior Apartments, Seton Hotel and Hotel Wolcott in ESB). Can you recomend me locations with high quality 3* hotels? Thanks again! Link to comment
thereuare
You can use our Hotel Lists to see what hotels have been reported at each star level in each zone (keep in mind the comments at the top of each hotel list... you could be the first to report a new hotel in a zone). From there can determine which zone(s) have 3* hotels that meet your needs and which have hotels that you're hoping to avoid. You can also use the PRICELINE tab at MAPS and HOTELS.com to see hotels at each star rating (although many of the 'retail' hotels don't necessarily participate in the bidding side of PRICELINE) Are you ready to commit to a non-refundable purchase at this point in time OR are you still looking to book a Refundable Rates and bid closer to your stay?
